WHO expert concerned about guest workers could spread coronavirus

A World Health Organization (WHO) expert has expressed concern that guest workers in the Middle East could carry the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) to India and the Philippines, according to a media report, while a few more details emerged about three Tunisian cases reported yesterday.

Looks like there is no problem at all with the NoCv-sars.

A few dozen cases in Saudi Arabia.

A Frenchman visits SA and comes back ,gets sick and sticks it to others.(H2H)

A Tunesian visits SA and comes back, and sticks it to others.(H2H)

Statistically that is a joke, unless this virus only infects tourists.

And Saudi citizens are immune.

The question is not IF they are covering it up,but WHY.

the revenue from millions of hajj and ummra tourists every year there airlines , hotels , as well as expertise from ex pats would all make very good reasons to keep this as quiee as possible

Scientists make new H7N9 claim

From link:

Scientists at Fudan University claimed yesterday that the H7N9 bird flu virus originated from poultry or wild bird in eastern China instead of the previous theory that the virus's two major proteins - HA and NA - come from fowl in China and South Korea respectively.

Study Examines Transmissibility of H7N9 Avian Influenza Virus

Chinese and U.S. scientists have used virus isolated from a person who died from H7N9 avian influenza infection to determine whether the virus could infect and be transmitted between ferrets. Ferrets are often used as a mammalian model in influenza research, and efficient transmission of influenza virus between ferrets can provide clues as to how well the same process might occur in people. The research was supported, in part, by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.

CDC Preparing for H7N9 Pandemic

[link to threatjournal.com]

From link:

Readers are reminded that while reported infection numbers are still relatively low, H7N9 clearly has world health authorities seriously spooked. So much so, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC this week published a 1 BILLION dollar cost plus Federal Solicitation for the purposes of emergency experimentation with H7N9 Flu vaccines and emergency experimental antiviral treatments.

The Solicitation specifically references "preparation for a possible large scale national H7N9 influenza vaccination program."

Earlier this month, the CDC issued a presolicitation announcement of their intended $600 million dollar acquisition of 512 million syringes, alcohol prep pads and other related products necessary to meet the vaccine administration needs of the American public during a pandemic influenza event.

It is regrettable that the Health Ministry has so far not issued any official explanation to the punishment that it had handed out to Dr. Ali Zaki who uncovered the existence of coronavirus infections in the Kingdom and who also discovered a new type of the virus.
