to prodlike,

What about the new case in marrocco?

That's case number four from people visiting Saudi Arabia, and three of them are H2H.(clusters)

Does this virus only infect tourists,or are there many more cases in Saudi Arabia?

By the way,the history books will tell this was the "Ron and Ab" virus.

one day back at work in a hotel and contracts coronavirus ......this is not being reported ......for fear of stigma
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36021878

Three confirmed cases of SARS in Florence. In addition to the first patient - the forty-five Jordanian employed in a hotel in the city, which is being treated in isolation from Tuesday Careggi hospital and declared out of danger - there are also the granddaughter of two years and a co-worker.

The clinical picture of the two new patients, both in isolation, "not serious," says the Ministry of Health. The child is in hospital pediatric Meyer and fellow man, an Italian woman of forty, at Careggi. Remain under observation about forty people, health care professionals, relatives and colleagues of the forty-five who have had contact with him in recent days. The monitoring for the possible onset of symptoms of SARS, or high fever, cough, and in severe cases difficulty in breathing. More severe symptoms than those of a normal flu or a cooling ailments rather common in this period due to the unsettled weather and temperature changes. The transmission from person to person, experts have assured this morning at a press conference at the hospital of Careggi, is very limited. "The disease - says Dr. Joseph Petrioli, head of prevention Healthcare Agency of Florence - has a low risk of contagion between people. Nevertheless, people who have had close contact with the patient have all been identified and warned that if you have respiratory symptoms or fever should be instructed to seek medical attention. There is no need to make vaccines or prophylactic antibiotic therapy because it would be useless. Generally, attention should be paid to persons falling from Middle Eastern countries where the disease has a certain distribution, as well as, as we have just done here, people come into contact with a sick person. " The crisis unit is taken with immediacy and is ready to take on new cases, although, at present, the situation is not alarm, said the regional councilor for Health Louis Brown. The forty-five was back last Saturday by a 40-day trip to see family in Jordan: a son would have been struck down by influenza and he, of course, he was close.

Very probable new case of NoCV(Mers) in Rabat Marrocco.

I don't like "Mers",since it stigmatizes a country or a region.

Nobody knows where this virus came from, might as well be a laboratory.

don't know how to link.
 Quoting: shachalnur 40939596

I agree naming this virus after the country is a huge stigma
 Quoting: prodlikegod

The name calling and and stigmatising of a country because of something that is as yet not fully understood is a huge mistake ....this is a global threat and needs to be dealt with on a global scale ,with out blame agencies need to be able to feel safe and welcome to move about freely in infected areas , .....
There also needs to be international support for leaders who may be faced with difficult decisions , ie cancelling hajj ,

8 clusters in 51 cases 44 deaths we are losing valuable time and allowing this to spread , hajj must be cancelled if the saudi authorities do not act now it will be to late , after that my guess is approx 7/8 month end dec / jan and the major spread will begin , history appears to repeat it self cold winters , poor nutrition , people unemployed poverty and disease

Description
Amid rising cases of deadly SARS-like virus, Saudi Health Ministry on Tuesday reported five new incidents in the east of the oil-rich kingdom, claiming that all affected are elderly people aged between 73 and 85. The latest cases appeared just hours after a 65-year-old Frenchman died of the virus, becoming the first victim in his country to get infected and died of the deadly nCoV-EMC novel coronavirus. The virus is believed to have links with the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which had sparked global health crisis nearly a decade ago. It is believed that the Frenchman got the infection from a man in Dubai with whom he shared a hospital room.

Pandemic viruses are very hard to avoid as far as exposure goes, very hard to protect against something so very, very small that can float in the air. Scary.

Re: Ten positive cases of new coronavirus in Italy
If independently confirmed, these cases would represent one of the biggest human cluster of MERS-CoV infections detected since the discovery of the virus in the early 2012.

Also, the first confirmed imported case may be a feared 'super-spreader', like those seen during 2003 SARS outbreak.

Clearly, more details are eagerly awaited around the clinical course of these cases in the coming days.
