For those of you following the drama in my life... my girlfriend is not doing well w/the chemo treatments and wants to die. Everything I have tried to make her feel better has been a miserable FAIL. She wants to let go of life, and I don't want her to. Her decision now. The chemo is hurting her too bad for her to want to continue more treatments. I think she will throw in the towel soon.verysad

[link to crofsblogs.typepad.com]

The first case is a Saudi female citizen in the Eastern region, aged 63 who is suffering from chronic diseases, and her condition is stable.
The Second one is a Saudi citizen in Al-Ahsa governorate, aged 75 who is suffering from chronic diseases as well, and still at ICU receiving the proper treatment.
However, the third case is a resident, aged 21 in Hafr Al-Batin, who passed away after being admitted to ICU at the beginning of this week, May Allah have mercy upon him.

Details of latest death:

I realize these translations sound like diagnoses composed by James Joyce on LSD. But if this report makes any sense at all, the latest MERS death in Hafr Al-Batin Hospital was that of a 21-year-old Indian expatriate worker, a shepherd. Another patient, a Sudanese who may also be associated with sheep, is awaiting test results. It may be that people in contact with sheep, as well as camels, are at greater risk of contracting the disease.

I remember reading about some crazy sheep diseases.Found this, thought it was interesting:

And look what it says at the bottom:

Dolly the sheep, the first mammal successfully cloned from an adult somatic cell, was euthanized after it was confirmed that she had Jaagsiekte.

Makes one wonder if cloned sheep are at the root of this virus.

H1N1 cases rise sharply in Venezuela

Posted on June 15, 2013by The Extinction Protocol

June 15, 2013 – VENUZELA – The number of H1N1 swine flu cases rose sharply in Venezuela during the last week of May, the health ministry said Wednesday, refusing to disclose whether any deaths have been linked to the outbreak. Health Minister Isabel Iturria, explaining why deaths would not be reported, blamed “political or economic interests” for creating alarm over the outbreak. The ministry said there were 414 new cases of H1N1 in the week from May 26 to June 1, pushing the total number of cases from 724 to 1,138. The virus was detected for the first time in Venezuela in 2009. The current outbreak has surpassed one in 2011 that resulted in 900 cases and eight deaths. Venezuela has been fiercely polarized since Nicolas Maduro was declared the winner of a disputed election in April to replace his mentor, the late leftist leader Hugo Chavez. The centrist opposition has contested the results. –Terra Daily [link to theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com]

Four More MERS-CoV Deaths, Saudi Arabia Announces Today

The death toll from SARS-like MERS-CoV infection reaches 32 today as Saudi Arabia announces four more fatalities.

So far, worldwide 37 people have died of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) since September 2012, says the World Health Organization.

One of the latest fatalities in Saudi Arabia was a 2-year-old child. She had been hospitalized "suffering from chronic pulmonary disease", according the Saudi Health Ministry.

MERS-CoV Coronavirus Not So Much Like SARS After All

Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection has shedding patterns different from those of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus and therefore may need alternative diagnostic tests, according to a case report and phylogenetic analyses published online June 17 in Lancet Infectious Diseases.

"Laboratory data like these are critical to reach recommendations for diagnostics, to make projections about the prognosis of the patient, as well as to estimate infection risks," first author Professor Christian Drosten, MD, from the Institute of Virology, University of Bonn Medical Centre, Germany, said in a journal news release.

"In the absence of qualitative laboratory data from well-documented MERS cases, most of these considerations were up to now made upon an assumed analogy to SARS. However, we're now finding that certain elementary traits of the MERS virus appear to be different to SARS."

This brings the MER-CoV total up to 72 with 38 deaths and drops the CFR from 59% to 52%; as happens when you raise the denominator.
