i see symbols as something in between words and pure abstract ideas.

it can easily be observed how many are unable to distinguish words from the abstract concept that is expressed through it. they learn words from dictionary definitions and are not aware that they are in fact 'labels' and and the same form can contain/express many feelings/ideas

a nice example are the religious zealots which understand words in a purely symbolic way. For them the dualistic nature of reality is defined by two lists of labels.
If you say 'I believe in Jesus Christ', they put a good label on you, even if you express also subtle feelings which are contrary to the spirit of Love.
on the other hand, if you tell a story filled with the spirit of love, which talks about Ideals, the good of Humanity and so on but use 'bad' labels they will perceive you as a satanist.

Behind the level of words/labels (matter) there is the level of feelings (astral) which are conveyed through words/symbols

Originally symbols were signposts for subtle realities. The symbol of swastica stands for the etheric sun which looks like a swastica in etheric vision.

Symbols can be easily manipulated because their energetic signature is not intrinsic to their form, but is due to their astral/energetic layer attached to them.
A symbol which was originally given by wise/good ones as point of focus for the good souls unable to see directly subtle realities, can be appropriated by dark forces.
And the naive masses offer their energy through those symbols.

Behind the layer of symbolic/astral stands the realm of abstract thought/platonic ideas which is formless in rapport with words or symbols.

the capacity of counterfactual/multi-dimensional thinking is at this level. It is usually out of reach of the old type of human, still prevalent, who is not capable to understand beyond binary alternatives.
for example, if you say to one of those 'It is possible that x' he will react based upon his binary stance towards 'x'

also if you use the classical sevenfold distinction, words would be at the 3rd level, feelings at the 4th, abstract ideas at the 5th, and direct spiritual understanding at the 6th.

if you grasp the 5th level (intellect) you can easily manipulate/guide on the 3rd level (words), because you can clearly see the intellectual meanings attached to words by those who perceive only the 3rd level form.

similarly, the astral reality of the 4th layer can be seen only from the 6th (third eye). the masses which are receptive to 4th level realities but are unable to see their nature, can be easily manipulated/guided from the 6th.

I have managed to link with anima and Mother Nature and for that I'm grateful.

I can produce anima (in it's vapor-cloud natural form) and I've been able to astrally project while my body does mundane tasks.

How? By centering on the eye.
