I believe this is intentional. Fed buys loans - homebuyers default. Guess who owns hard assets bought with worthless paper. Sweet deal for privately owned Fed and guess who gets stuck with the bill. You guessed it. Taxpayers who guarantee the loans. Thievery plain and simple.
