Interesting. The North will probably rebuke that request but it shows the finality of the situation on the Korean Peninsula has ramped up.

Remember that during all crises on the Peninsula since the joint-industrial complex has existed Kaesong has remained opened. Until now.

The North's ultimatum that it be closed on April 10 is significant for that reason alone.

It depends. The South Koreans might refuse to adhere to the North's demand. The new President in South Korea has to prove herself as a strong leader.

That's something to watch.

Update: The South Korean President being briefed on options over Kaesong.

South Korea had earlier warned that if any harm came to ROK workers in Kaesong military options would be considered.

President Park must now either evacuate all South Korean workers or prepare to respond to the DPRK if they become hostages/POWs.

If they were going to attack they would not even let them leave

On the contrary, this move could be because something more serious is brewing. We won't know until it happens in either case, but a total evacuation order like this is significant.
