Physics would not have them falling into a greater radius than they did.
If you were a construction foreman, as I am, you would understand that the connections that hold a modern building are merely 2 1/2 times strength to withstand windload and live load, greater in earthquake zones.
As for physics, well, almost everyone understands that things fall straight down towards the center of the earth.
For good measure let's also realize that 1500 architects and engineers represent about 1% of that profession, interesting as well as that number matches the insanity rate of the general population.
