one thing im sure about is this tho. at some point in everyones life we doubt everything and worry about war and stuff and after that we lose that and grow older. we always think things were better in the past and see the future kinda of dark. i guess.

Not to hard to believe these days

I am an old hippie and proud of it- I atill advocate peace and love, and why should't I ??? war is grusome,I was a medic, and it was the worst thing EVER! War SUCKS! And why people blame hippies for society falling apart I don't know- it seemed to me to be after Saturday Night Fever and disco shit got going- then everything went downhill fast. I also realize that the war in Nam happened when there were only about TWO BILLION people on the planet- now there are SEVEN Billion. Life is getting cheaper and cheaper!

youve seen everything we take for granted come to life. tv, communication, transportation, science, computers, internet.
i mean kids now pretty much only know of music being digital. they have no idea about mp3 discmans, walkmans, those old big tape audio things, tv with 3 channels instead of 300... all that stuff.

must seem to you like we got a blindfold over our eyes today. we probably spent 90% of our up-time on things people didnt even do 40 years ago..

What happened? Greed and short sightedness by corporate and ruling class interests at the turn of the 20th century, that's what happened. We should have had something equivilient to the internet, and free electricity, back around that time. But they crushed Tesla..

The hippies were just a symptom of a society that had become far too restrictive at its core, like an allergic reaction.

Left, right, hippie, yuppie, hawk, whatever.. we keep fighting each other instead of highlighting the excessive corruption and greed at the very top of our system; the ruling class and political class.

Kids today have no hope. I'm 25, I've seen it. Trying to fight against it is pissing into the wind. Might as well contribute to the accelerating downfall and get it over quicker I suppose, least that's what I think most have in mind.

As for me.. I hate this place. Earth is wonderful but our society is fucking rotten.

I understand what you are saying, OP. It feels like this country has lost it's swagger, especially after the self-deprecating and apologetic progressiveness that has plagued our culture, our government, and our way of life for the last 30 years. It is an overall moral decay of society, a breakdown of the family dynamic, as well as an apathy and indifference from an "anything goes" and an "everybody is a winner" mentality that has brought this country to such a pitiful point right now. I am not sure it can be saved, but one thing I do know is that we will not last much longer on the path we are on.
