Pope Francis has called for "decisive action" in the fight against sex abuse of minors by priests
He told Bishop Gerhard Mueller, head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith - the Vatican watchdog that deals with sex abuse cases - to ensure perpetrators were punished.

It was the Argentine Pope's first public statement on clerical sex abuse.

A leading sex abuse survivors' group has responded with scepticism, saying "actions speak louder than words".

The new Pope was elected last month, replacing Pope Emeritus Benedict, who became the first pope in 600 years to resign.

When first elected, Benedict XVI promised to rid his Church of the "filth" of clerical sex abuse, but critics accused him of covering up abuse in the past and failing to protect children from paedophile priests.

Victims of sex abuse by clergy had called for a strong response from the new pontiff to the crisis that has rocked the Church.

He will reply, \'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Matthew 25:45

Matthew 18 6 If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea

Oh, and seriously,

where is the outrage of Catholics against the homosexual men who become priests in order to get to the boys?

seems the Church is the victim here too. I wonder if NAMBLA started the trend of homosexual infiltration of the priesthood.

Not pedophiles, but homosexuals. Again, I would accept the term pedophile if they were abusing small girls, but it is almost completely a homosexual orientation among priests.

Lots of homosexual men like them young. It is why all our male movie stars look so girly in the last decade.

Think Justin Bieber, as opposed to John Wayne or Clark Gable.

They are pedophiles, the mormon chuch likes young girls the muslim faith likes both young boys and girls, the buddhist monks likes little boys. If we are to be responsible adults we will not allow our children around adults without our presence, it can be anyone. Don't leave your children alone with an adult, problem solved.

This is the kind of filth you can expect when a church forbids the priests to marry, which by the way is completely unbiblical, but then again most of what they teach is.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28167778

But normal homosexual men and boys do not want to rape little, younger helpless children, so this is not about homosesxuality, per se, right?

I think that lots of men would be insulted to equate their being homosexual in adult relationships, who actually like women, and like children, and want to help humanity, hear that they are equivalent to the child-rapist priesthood of Catholic, Muslim, Tibetan Monks, Mormons, well, you get what the problem is. Certain evil men who PRACTICE SATANISM - they are the ones that do this crime. Child rape is a heinous, vile crime, and anal rape, especially to a boy, is DESIGNED TO DESTROY THAT BOY'S spirit, in order for him, (this is true) in his anguish and helplessness, to go somewhere else, in his mind, (splitting, disassociate from the pain and horror of the trauma being done to him) which allows entities of spirits (evil, good ones don't do this) to ENTER THAT HUMAN at that point. THis is not fair, and does not ALWAYS result in possession by an evil entity or entities, but it is so common, and so reliable from the Satanist's point of operation, that is the reason they actually do rape children anally, sodomy, on children, is one almost certain way of having that child become indwelt by other spirits.

Why do they do this? They are inhuman people themselves, and they work for their master, the evil, dark entity posing as the Illuminator of mankind. They do it because they are evil and vile and ugly, and yet, some will say they do it to 'enlighten' and initiate that child into the brotherhood (of darkness). They become initiated 'into the Light" THEY say. Evil bastards, ruining innocent young humans' life here on earth.

It should make people look into who actually IS Catholic priesthood's (and the Solar Deity itself) "Light" as in 'I am the Light and the truth and the way".

This is not the true Messiah they worship, but the one who calls himself the enlightener but brings only darkness, evil and death.

Re: Pope Francis has called for "decisive action" in the fight against sex abuse of minors by priests
I applaud this. I am sure the RCC feels trapped. Where to begin??? Who do we trust??? How to rehabilitate??? How many abusers are there and are there enough persons left to handle the ministry???

some advice - take an extremely firm stand to stop it all
ask God for help to filter through it all
acknowledge and help the victims and perpetrators
use the 12 step programs
no abusers should remain in the clergy
show how serious you are to turn the tide
those left should have faith that they will be helped (consider allowing married men and women to minister also)

we have to heal from child sex abuse worldwide

the statue of limitations on these crimes should not exist due to the nature of the issue. it doesnt help the victims or the perpetrators to heal and all others and society itself by delaying and denying these issues

denial, covering it up, waiting for a savior or whatever else that doesn't rectify the situation only prolongs the problems and weighs in the hearts and minds of the remaining faithful and spawns despair, bitterness, mistrust, and a cycle of spiraling denial that leads further on to more and more problems (further abuse, co-dependency, violence, etc.) throughout society.

consider that married men and women can minister the faith. Are these persons not worthy? How many are prevented from even considering ministering?

use the vast resources to help all children worldwide for all reasons (abuse, slavery, death due to malnutrition, basic rights, etc.) What would Christ do? What would God want? Turn this into an opportunity by making a commitment to help all children. Not convert them to beliefs but sincerely help and stand up for them. We are all God's children. Consider that Christ would help them freely, anonymously without credit. What are we if we can't help them? Enough have suffered long enough in my opinion.

Seeing the personal effects this has had on so many including myself to this very day leading to all sorts of unbecoming behaviors (co-dependency, over compensation, verbal and emotional abuse, self abuse, etc.) I can attest to the fact these acts upon children are not just a one time hurtful event but breed ills for years upon years and can effect hundreds if not thousands of people from one abuse act alone. We can heal. God and Jesus do help if we ask.

Never say never, and calling their mothers whore's doesn't really help much and ain't very nice. At least he tries to do something about it, that's pretty brave considering the size of the corruption. If only people would keep up hope, instead of bitterly mistrusting everything because of the past.

And what are you doing about it? It certainly doesn't limit itself to the Catholic Church, it's a worldwide disease.

And last but not least:

"If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." -Matthew 18:6
"The salvation of this human world lies nowhere else than in the human heart, in the human power to reflect, in human meekness and human responsibility." –Václav Havel

"Modern man must descend the spiral of his own absurdity to the lowest point; only then can he look beyond it. It is obviously impossible to get around it, jump over it, or simply avoid it." –Václav Havel
