I applaud this. I am sure the RCC feels trapped. Where to begin??? Who do we trust??? How to rehabilitate??? How many abusers are there and are there enough persons left to handle the ministry???

some advice - take an extremely firm stand to stop it all
ask God for help to filter through it all
acknowledge and help the victims and perpetrators
use the 12 step programs
no abusers should remain in the clergy
show how serious you are to turn the tide
those left should have faith that they will be helped (consider allowing married men and women to minister also)

we have to heal from child sex abuse worldwide

the statue of limitations on these crimes should not exist due to the nature of the issue. it doesnt help the victims or the perpetrators to heal and all others and society itself by delaying and denying these issues

denial, covering it up, waiting for a savior or whatever else that doesn't rectify the situation only prolongs the problems and weighs in the hearts and minds of the remaining faithful and spawns despair, bitterness, mistrust, and a cycle of spiraling denial that leads further on to more and more problems (further abuse, co-dependency, violence, etc.) throughout society.

consider that married men and women can minister the faith. Are these persons not worthy? How many are prevented from even considering ministering?

use the vast resources to help all children worldwide for all reasons (abuse, slavery, death due to malnutrition, basic rights, etc.) What would Christ do? What would God want? Turn this into an opportunity by making a commitment to help all children. Not convert them to beliefs but sincerely help and stand up for them. We are all God's children. Consider that Christ would help them freely, anonymously without credit. What are we if we can't help them? Enough have suffered long enough in my opinion.

Seeing the personal effects this has had on so many including myself to this very day leading to all sorts of unbecoming behaviors (co-dependency, over compensation, verbal and emotional abuse, self abuse, etc.) I can attest to the fact these acts upon children are not just a one time hurtful event but breed ills for years upon years and can effect hundreds if not thousands of people from one abuse act alone. We can heal. God and Jesus do help if we ask.
