We live on the side of a mountain that overlooks a valley several miles away. I cannot see what is going on on the other side of our mountain when these planes fly over our ridge and subsequenly over our town which is behind our ridge but I can see what is going on over the valley that we overlook and what is coming right over our house ...and it ain't lookin good!

No "bush whacking" required. We are just a couple of miles from the college and there are several homes in the area. All you need is a car with 4-wheel drive to get up a driveway. How is it you are familiar with the area? Are you currently in this location?

Yes! That is what I am saying! We do not live as remotely as I would like so we have many neighbors that have reported seeing these same things...even the more recent B-2s from this past week. Our local law enforcement tells everyone they are "training for Afghanistan" so people are asking questions.

poster, the planes would be visible if at a'ville airport. they're flying in from either bragg, Onslow county, or ft. jackson. so if they're doing practice runs it there, it would be quite expensive for fuel. and whatever they're doing would be close to going live. if they're doing it over neighborhoods any vet knows what that means. if so contact NC state officials and state militia to investigate. NC has a large state militia with website.

god i hate this -- poster I was offered a CO spot there, in a'ville reserve unit -- ex Army officer. what you're describing is a no go. Ft Stewart and ft sill is for training, not towns. for so many reasons. report it like I said so people can take appropriate action.

Thank you for the tip. The police in our area are NO help. In fact, I suspect they will be part of the problem when this thing goes "live". I am not a vet so can you share with us what it means when they are flying like this over neighborhoods...besides the obvious "predictive programming" I mean.

there are regulations for training. floors and ceilings and proximity to civilian safety. urban warfare in US neighborhoods -- say like the Marines did in Swansboro NC years back is not ok -- locals there pitched a fit and it stopped. local small town cops gave them permission but not county managers. call your county manager too. get answers and what they intend to do about this -- especially flying over a state university. unless they are ROTC, but there is no landings, what you're describing sounds like they are training for drops in those specific locations.

Thank you for those links. You guys actually have me a little nervous since everyone here is told it is no big deal and just "training" for war in Middle East. We have lived with the C-130s flying over our home and town late at night for the past 7 years to the point of not being that alarmed by this but the recent B-2s and fully loaded Apache helicopters from a couple of weeks ago made the hair on our necks stand up that something more is going on here. Now you are telling me to contact the militia "stat"?! So much for sleeping tonight!

all US military exercises have action orders drafted by junior officers and signed off by senior officers. find out what base the planes originate from and call the senior officers and ask their intent. -- after involving the governors office and county manager.

One of my neighbors recently mentioned to me a rumor he heard from a few years ago that they were seen dropping drugs in our area from these C-130s. Wonder if they heard about a drop and just assumed it was drugs. Many of these mountains have caves and are very wooded...wouldn't surprise me if they have troops hiding out here that they are getting supplies to. Either way, I am getting the impression that what we have been told is "routine training" is anything but!
