This is a VERY good point. My opinion is that the first strike has been taken, but it was in cyberspace, and has yet to become a physical action. As to who fired first...*shrug* doesn't matter.

But what does matter is who fires first physically. They then become the agressor, and it is harder for public opinion to stay with an agressor, even with the UN/US as it is. N. Korea would then be able to justify using everything in its arsenal to "Defend" itself, including the kitchen sink (for example: WMD's). Iran could also pop in and act by closing the Persian Gulf and outright backing up Assad, saying the US has finally gone too far, and action must be taken to protect the "Free-Thinking" people of the world. Then you'd also cross the "red-line" established by Russia when the US counteracts that movement.

Every nation that has ever faced economic ruin has sought 'redemption' in war. With practically the entire globe perched on the ledge of financial doom, this will get very ugly, very fast. One spark is all it will take and it won't matter who lights it.

There is a continuom that does not preclude desruction of the earth's surface and thereby its inhabitants. While you are envisioning doom - may I ask you think about what that really means? You will be keeping yourself safe against other parties wanting to shoot you, eat your children (in eventualities this is a norm) take what you have most precious and prime hostage in return for the simplest of values... a chicken.

Anyone think this whole NK thing is just to create a convenient excuse to move our military assets out of some region that might need our military presence in the near future? Israel? Melting-down Europe? The US???
