Can things that seem to be bad actually be good? Obesity, low job participation rate
Lately, I've been thinking and rethinking about everything in my worldview. The latest news about the lack of jobs being created and the low job participation rate is one such thing I've been pondering. On the surface, it may seem bad, but perhaps it could be good. Can more mothers start being home for their children to raise them according to their values instead of dropping them off at daycare? Can a parent have a hot meal waiting for the other spouse when he/she comes home? Perhaps less stress will be in the household with only one parent working. Perhaps families will live more simple lives; really bonding and getting to know each other. Perhaps there will be less divorce...
The other reanalysis I've been thinking about is obesity. What if the economy implodes and food is hard to come by...a 300 pound person could give up a meal for her child. In fact, the 300 pound mom could give up multiple meals in order to feed others. That 300 pound woman might even last longer than all her skinny family members and friends who always pestered her to lose weight. In that scenario, being overweight would be a "good" thing, and be saving her.
Although the powers that be think that they may be destroying us in various ways, humans will always be resilient and resourceful. We will always try to make the best out of each situations. Always try to see the positive in your situation and always question what you are told is "good" or "bad."
