WTF? Trayvon Martin's parents settle wrongful death suit 'for more than $1 million' against homeowner's association
Part of the wrongful death settlement was made public on Friday, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel.

But the amount of the settlement was kept confidential.

However, the amount is believed to be more than $1 million because during earlier proceedings concerning the claim, Trayvon's parents had rejected an offer of that amount from the homeowner's association's insurer, Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. of America.

I think they deserve it and that the Homeowners association did have liability for his safety on their premises. If they send out a neighborhood watch guy who ends up killing someone innocent, then they are liable. That's why they have liability insurance and that's what insurance is for.

Yeah but there hasn't been a trial yet! Innocent until proven guilty? Do you remember that? What if George was found innocent and he was the victim? Do they give the money back?

innocent until proven guilty is for crimes, as is beyond reasonable doubt.

this was a wrongful death lawsuit, a civil suit, not a crime, and the required standard is the balance of probabilities.

Get real, they don't deserve any money from the Homeowners association. It is sad and tragic but you don't go around striking the first blow and then claim you are the victim.

This is one of the reasons that I can't get broken up about their "loss" as they seem more intent in making money off the incident then actually mourning for their son.

The mother and father are battling in court over who owns trayvon's name and who will get the money for using that name.

Here's the rub.

They sued the homeowner's association where Trayvon died BUT NEITHER THE MOM OR DAD were homeowners. The residence where Trayvon died belong to the girlfriend of Trayvon's dad. It was her, the girlfriend, who had to get caught up in this. I just want to know if the dad and gf broke up yet and if she got a cut of any of that $

All of this money will (rightly) belong to GZ when he files suit against the Martin's for the legal responsibility to control their minor child...which they clearly did not do...

The parents are clearly liable for the illegal actions of their minor child...
