For Alabama peeps:

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA
LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AFTER 3 AM IN THE WEST...AND MAY LAST THROUGH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON IN THE EAST. DAMAGING WINDS...LOCALIZED FLASH
FLOODING...HAIL...AND ISOLATED TORNADOES WILL ALL BE POSSIBLE.
CONFIDENCE CONTINUES TO INCREASE WITH REGARDS TO THE TIMING OF THE
SYSTEM...HOWEVER...PLEASE STAY TUNED TO THE FORECAST FOR CHANGES
THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF THE WORK WEEK.

I did a pin request. I don't know if they'll do a green pin again. It got pinned right after you left for the night. Hopefully, the mods will red pin it.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Thanks Buckeye. I was going to green pin it myself later today as we get closer to official warnings being posted.

Think I should change the title to...Severe Weather ahead for most of the US?

Thank you so much for the update. I would love it if we could get someone from each state that is going to be impacted to take ownership of the warnings for their state.

Just for the record, it's already started here in northern AZ.

Sustained 30-40 mph winds already and we're still early in the going.

The wolf is at the door here. Batten down the hatches.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2416680

Thanks. I better get busy, then. Check out the wind map!! Very well defined system. It's going to be a no-skirt day, ladies!

Buckeye...did you see this? I posted it last night.

Updated Web Briefing on Wind/Dust Event for April 8-9

I like a "no-skirt" warning better than a red flag...lol
 Quoting: CowgirlK

No, I missed it. Thanks. Couldn't watch videos last night. El Paso looks like they'll get hit a little harder than we will. Lubbock's forecast is close to the same, though. I hope they don't get the fires down there. Lot's of dead fuel down there.

I stole the no-skirt warning for one of our local forecaster's, Nikki Dee Ray. She also said it will be a ball-cap day!LOL

I would, but since it's going to be a mostly a day-time threat on Thursday, I won't be able to. I work online from home and wouldn't be able to post warnings on here and my Facebook page and I have people on there who actually count on me.

AL storms, are they heading to GA or TN??
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30619939

I'm not a Meteorologist or have any formal weather training. I'm just a gal who loves to weather watch. That being said, there are a lot of variables with this system which probably will not become clear until tonight or early tomorrow.

This is what they are saying at the moment..

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR MIDDLE
TENNESSEE LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. A STRONG COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO
MOVE ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND INTO
THURSDAY MORNING. IT IS A GROWING POSSIBILITY THAT SEVERE STORMS
WILL OCCUR ALONG AND JUST AHEAD OF THE FRONTAL PASSAGE.
CURRENTLY...IT APPEARS THAT THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER WILL
OCCUR AS EARLY AS 1 AM TO 4 AM EARLY THURSDAY MORNING ACROSS OUR
WESTERN MOST AREAS. THE ACTIVITY WILL THEN MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS
THE REMAINDER OF THE MID STATE BY MID MORNING ON THURSDAY.

The red cross is putting out weather forecasts now.

Posted April 08, 2013

Severe weather is threatening a large part of the country with predictions calling for everything from snow to the possibility of tornadoes. The American Red Cross wants everyone to stay safe and has steps people can take regardless of what bad weather is threatening their neighborhood.

Strong thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes are possible over the next several days for the Central Plains and across the South. Strong winds and dry conditions will increase the danger of wildfires in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. Heavy snow with accumulations of up to two feet are possible in the Rocky Mountains.
