Wait a minute, if they could just materialize and de-materialize in thin air, why would they need 'space ships' to travel and navigate? That doesn't make any sense... If you could teleport anywhere on Earth, would you still drive a car or fly a plane to get to your destination?

Why would 'God' lift you up in the air? Where are you going to be lifted to? A physical location in the sky? Is 'heaven' in the upper atmosphere or in space?

You found a phrase that reduces your fear, once you reduce your fear, your 'visions' disappeared. What does that tell you about the nature of what you were perceiving? Eliminate the fear, and those scary visions go away with it. Look into the term 'hypnagogic hallucinations'.

Any word/phrase you find to be empowering would have the same effect on your experience in that state. The fear creates the visions/apparitions, not the other way around. Your mind is still connected to the dream state even though you perceive yourself to be 'awake' during the experience. The mind temporarily disconnects with the rest of the body while you sleep to prevent you from physically acting out your dreams and hurting yourself while you sleep.

There are plenty of indiviuals who experience 'sleep paralysis' without the element of fear or visions of frightening things, so they are not the causal mechanism of the experience itself, just sometimes correlated based on the nature of the observer/experiencer.

'Sleep paralysis' happens much more frequently to individuals who suffer from sleep apnea (shortness of breath while sleeping), and occurs more frequently in individuals who sleep on their back as opposed to their stomach. I have read that when you find your body to be in that 'paralysis' state, it is reportedly easiest to regain control by trying to wiggle one of your big toes (as opposed to any other part of your body).
