Re: Yonhap: Kim Jong-un orders mass artillery production for "rapid pre-emptive attack"
I still think this will amount to a whole lot of nothing.

But let's play the "why would he" game.

1. North Korea is broke and overpopulated.

The first fix a war would produce would of course be reduction in mouths to feed.

2. NK Has no money and no trade partners.
If they manage to get their butts kicked by the US, maybe he's counting on "nationbuilding" to take over and save his people.

3. Their policies are obviously not working, but they have been running for so long on the same propaganda that changing tune just wouldn't work. Losing a war and letting the south / US take over would mean he wouldn't have to confess to his father / grandfather being idiots.

4. The worst case scenario. He thought he could play the same game as his predecessors, but lacks the statesmanship skills to back down when needed.

Re: Yonhap: Kim Jong-un orders mass artillery production for "rapid pre-emptive attack"
contemporary war tactics cant work for the norks. there out gunned 10 to 1 technology wise. although if i were to use a chess analogy, it seem reasonable to use a pawn or two to bait a queen. the US has majority of its navel fleet either in the china /korea seas and or in the gulf. the rest of the ships are are sitting in harbours . It seem rational to load a nuke on a sub and try to take out as many ships as possible. you could take off a pretty big chunk of weaponary. the Norks are the pawns. there just the first wave. Unfortunately with the western powers try to impress their values and morels of the rest of the world, they have piss off more then 2/3 of the worlds population acting like their king shit .At one point the rest of the world was too scared to confront them. I fear now that the west has basically rape and conquered the rest of the world to the point that now they have created billions of people with nothing to lose and a big fat point to prove and their willing to die to prove it. it a no win situation for the west.

frankly if we are to have a true democratic world, there is more eurasians and the arabs then all the all the other western cultures combine. they should be a world power. seems insane that 2 countries with the total population of maybe a half billion has the right to dictate to 7.5 billion whats right or wrong and how to live. I think east just figured that out.

it going to be a fun decade

If be attacks there are two possibilities. 1. He's crazy, which we can suspect but don't know for sure, yet. 2. He's somehow got an alliance support. Imagine if china, Russia, nk, Afpak Taliban all declare/attack in Asia, while the Middle East and north african countries attacks Israel, and basically the rest of Africa, se Asia, and central/south America drops the dollar and sets American embargoes....we would be toast. Maybe everyone is sick enough of our empire. Could be....

my thoughts exactly.... what is going on is behind the scenes... to what's put out to the news... blitzkrieg would have failed if they dropped leafletes saying they were coming.......
 Quoting: Citizenperth

I have a feeling NK is going for chaos rather than surprise. If they were as easy to defeat as many seem to believe, why have we left them alone for so long? Mostly because the entire area is wickedly unpredictable. Too many powerful countries too close together.

The problem right now, as I see it, is this potential war must stay land based, or at the very least contained to the Korean peninsula, with limited US troop deployment within the limits set out by China. I don't doubt they'd repeat their response to the first time we invaded Korea.

The little fat man is either a lot smarter than anyone has given him credit for or is listening to people who've already practiced this dance. It looks as if this whole event is less about all out nuclear destruction and more about forcing the hands of the interested superpowers.

I don't think for one second the recent news about Australia/China currency conversion isn't linked to this in some way, however small. The world is fragmenting and not-so-subtly picking sides. Whether or not this goes to conflict, NK will have done damage to the US, which is all they really wanted from the get-go.

Didn't read news article.

But if both sides are saying they have the right to pre-preemptive attack, doesn't this almost guarantee that one will strike?

At the first sign of a threat, North Korea will send some pussy nuke to South Korea, then watch the rest of the world destroy it.

This is US media hysteria

Predictably, Americans panic when it's even suggested THEY might suffer

Americans don't mind when the wars it wages are 'over there', 'somewhere else' and happening to 'foreigners'

Now the US needs another war to save it from bankruptcy

and all Americans have to say is: ' Will WE get hurt'

The biggest fear here is a huge nasty ground war involving millions of troops, thousands of tanks and a catastrophic artillery barrage on Seoul.

Cities will be destroyed. Carriers will be sunk. Massive concentrations of foreign troops will be mobilized in and around the region.

You will see Russia, China and U.S on DEFCON-2 as all sides field hundreds of thousands of troops in paranoia that one of them will use the chaos to strike opportunistically at the other.

That is the danger.

You enjoy the thought of liberals ( I am not one) - who simply have a different view on how to best approach problems - having to beg for food - - and dare people ahead of time to "raid your shit?"

Don't know you but that sounds like nothing but a regular old asshole no need to differentiate between conserv/lib.

And laughable to bunch libs and pols right now - - pols are in total cahoots with Global Inc. - which is usully associated with us conservatives.

Again, don't know you but it sure sounds like someone who is 100% in line with the elite's plan to divide and conquer, fulfilling your role well.

I hope that libs and us cons come together somehow (unlikely but my hope) over the common bonds of OWS and Tea party.

I hope the pols are knocked off their self centered lives. I don't hope they have to beg for food.

Nope, he isn't. Leaving aside who said what about Stalin (and lets not forget that propaganda is the name of the game in any order), Un is a nationalist. He uses quite religious symbolism and sees himself almost as a god king. Stalin was a Marxist who harboured the belief that you could perfect socialism in one country and then spread socialism worldwide. Marxists are ALWAYS internationalists and atheists (lol...these days we are associated with the Illuminati).

Jokes aside, we come from the view that religion is another opiate through which people can be exploited and is basically voodoo. Un in contrast, is a strange and bizarre specimen with this godlike cult. Funny things went on in that region with politics...look at the curious case of China.

He keeps all of it in the open, focusing all attention to what's above ground

Rather then paying attention to the hundreds of smaller nukes planted in the tunnels they dug out for decades under the south

The south is probably sitting on one massive powder keg,
Keeps most the fallout coming back onto themselves.
