As a Christian too, I would be amazed and overjoyed beyond description if this were truly what it is! We have the measurements of it's size in the book of revelation. It's either a cube or a pyramid (most likely a cube according to Revelation Chapter 21) and size is 12,000 (twelve thousand) biblical "furlongs" which is a unit of measure thought to be about 220 yards or 1/8th of a mile. That would mean that 12,000 / 8 = 1500 MILES!!

Can you visualize a cube 1500 miles in length, height, and depth? Containing a city within it - a city made of gold and precious gems? A city that uses huge PEARLS and IMMENSE JEWELS FOR IT's VERY GATES? A city with a wall 440 "furlongs" (that would be 55 MILES in our measurements) as it's thickness?? A wall 1500 miles HIGH and 55 MILES in thickness or depth. Imagine, as you walk thru the gates of the city - you will then go 55 miles just to travel thru the depth of just the wall that surrounds the city, itself!

The bible in Revelation 21, tells us that this WALL has a FOUNDATION of not one layer, but of twelve layers!!

It is absolutely staggering when you begin to translate the measurements ST JOHN recorded in Revelation into modern-day terms.

The REAL New Jerusalem is the heavenly home of the redeemed after the earth is finally destroyed at the end of Jesus' 1000 year reign in which he brings true peace to the earth at long last. When there is made an end to sin and man can for the first time, live without Satan and his demonic spirits attacking us constantly. All of us living today have NEVER known a time when the earth was not under the curse placed on it, after the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden. Imagine when your wish to do what is right is not interfered with by fear, or greed or hate! Imagine truly being able to love and trust without fear of the "standard" human betrayal or have a spouse without fear of adultery or abandonment.

If you can remember as a young child the delight you found in being praised by a loving parent - having their unquestioning approval and guidance in a gentle and loving way. Do you remember when all of your impulses were to do that which was right and good (long time ago for most of us, I'll admit... certain is for me!) But that is what the world may well be like during that 1000 year reign when Christ himself takes the kingship and leadership of the entire world. There will be no more sickness, no more death. And for 1000 years man will have peace for the first time in human history with no need for fear of his brother, his neighbor or his friends or acquaintances. The human heart itself will be changed by the presence of Jesus on the earth and by the change in our bodies that is to take place when those living at the time of his return are "changed in the twinkling of an eye!!" Our old rotting, aging, pain-ridden bodies are replaced in an instant with something so much better we can hardly find words to describe or even imagine it. We believe it will be the same sort of body Christ had after he arose from the grave and traveled among and met and talked with his disciples and friends and his mother and family until he finally went up to his father's realm "to prepare a place for us". Of course we (no one on earth) knows for certain. But we will soon, I believe, find out. We will find out by being among those who live thru the tribulation and avoid death (supernaturally protected no doubt) from that awful last ruler of the world who is the embodiment of Satan on earth.

In terms of the NEW JERUSALEM - John, the author of Revelation, does not say that it touches down on the earth, itself. But it does come near enough that "he saw it coming down out of the skies." The Angel that St. John talks about who leads him thru this revelation takes him to a "great high mountain" - it seems obvious that to view such a stupendously large object as this NEW JERUSALEM The Home of GOD the Most High CREATOR and his son JESUS, a city far larger than many countries here on earth - d, and probably a space and time and dimensional-crossing ship (too) would require a vantage point very high and very far away from it - otherwise he could not have viewed the scale and scope of this immense ship as it descends thru the clouds and comes to either land on or hover just above the earth in those final days of the earth's history. Any human being, born anywhere in the world will have room made for them and all their families going back to creation in this wonderful city of GOD! Once admitted by their faith and trust in JESUS and the gift of salvation he gave us, they will live among God's chosen ones forever and forever,

Are there other creations made by THE MOST HIGH, OUR CREATOR - out there just as our earth was once? Do they need the people of God to watch over them, to tend them, to nurture them and make sure they grow in the way God has planned? I have a feeling that whatever is available for us in terms of useful labor to keep our minds and bodies working and healthy will be there, planned by our Creator before the world was made - and finally able to be reality for those who held fast to their faith and didn't let go during the darkest of times humanity ever experienced. Even for those few who get thru the tribulation and the Antichrist and his horrors he loosens on humanity - it is still 1000 years away because of the prophesied millennial reign of Christ on this earth. Could the city be approaching earth? Yes, I'm sure it could. If only to monitor the final chapters in our present period. God knows the number of the hairs on our heads and he knows when a sparrow falls. He will not abandon nor forsake us. Not now. Not ever. Perhaps it approaches to give us hope - perhaps to limit Satan and his minions by the sheer presence of GODS home in this solar system. Perhaps to remind us that there is no way Satan and his minions can "fake" the real creations of the REAL CREATOR.

While Satan and his followers have run amuck on earth for nearly six thousand years or longer - the Battle draws to it's end. Man will soon be free of the hate and fear and cruelty that has become the norm for almost all countries on earth.

The time of our deliverance draws closer - and if this is the New Jerusalem coming into our solar system, as the OP has commented, then we are closer than most ever imagined. This is going to be the most exciting and most terrifying time in the history of mankind. Few are privileged to live on earth at this time. fewer still will remain to see the WORD OF GOD proven true once again. But for those that will live thru it, and those that will hold fast to GOD, their reward will be so great as to be incomprehensible to most of us in our human state, now.
