Same here. My Grandad was in Germany at the end of the war and for the reconstruction. Didn't talk about it. It was horrible, he said, and didn't want to relive it and absolutely nothing to be discussed with his grandkids.

Took my daughter to the Holocaust Museum last week. It's not just gas chambers and mass extermination. It was work camps, experimentation, the erosion of the humanity of a certain part of society. It wasn't just the Jewish, though they were certainly the largest block of people. It was anyone viewed as inferior.
