It's not a scam - you get BC's for "mining" them FOR FREE. You can use them as a currency, but you don't have to do anything to start generating BC's besides running a program. You can option to buy them, but just like anything else, the value can change without notice.

The problem with BCs is that there is no real value to them aside from what people assign it. They are on par with FRNs in some regard, except that the BCs are totally reliant upon a functioning internet, while FRNs are supported by the US military backing oil.

Curious to know why it is dropping so hard right now though.

If anything I would say that BC has been infiltrated and demonized by outside sources for daring to compete against Central Banks and their fiat currency. Why else would it crash so hard in one day when it should be climbing - all global things considered...

That's illogical, here's why: everybody 'in the know' is aware that the US dollar cannot remain forever. So if a Central Bank created BC, they would want it to look like a strong alternative to the dollar as the dollar collapses - in essence, something like unto gold which goes up while the dollar goes down (market fluctuations not withstanding). So as a CB, you would want the BC to look like a stable safe haven to get into while the dollar continues to drop which would then get more investments. That way, once the dollar dies, you already control the new currency, BCs.

Ergo, it would not be a good argument to state that BCs are controlled by CBs. In fact, I think it is the opposite; they do not control BCs, and therefore, it must be destroyed.
