Computer Tards--Husband just received a call from "Windows Rep" ??? SCAM?? BEWARE PPL!!

Yes, this has happened to me and my fiance....they ask you to mess with your computer and all....

It's definitely a scam. Good thing he hung up. I've heard of others being hit by this. What's funny is, you would think they'd at least get it right enough to say "Microsoft rep". As if "Windows" is the name of the company, lol.

Confirmed scam, also here in Holland.

I know someone that fell for it.

I would say i only use linux.

He also just told me the guy said when you get to 90% they feel they have to let you know??

The guy told him to hit the windows button and R and then type in event.

Why linux? I don't even know what it is.

They were going to "show" him how someone was trying to hack into his computer.

Does/would windows/microsoft actually ever contact anyone like this?

Came up unknown name and number.

Also "Windows" is not a company.

Indian accent too.

Told the guy to fuck off and go suck a cows dick.

He hung up.

I actually told him to suck a sacred cows dick.

Unknown name number, "from windows", and Indian accent are three really big tells. Good to remember them.

Same story, they said they were from Microsoft and had detected that he had viruses on his computer.

He fell for it and gave them access.
They infected his system and asked for money.

Then he felt that that was wrong.

He had to do a reinstall

I am familiar with this. Bill Gates personally emails me to
upgrade my bios (whatever that is) every few months but my box runs so so smooth that I never doubt his intentions.
People, you've got to chill out, not everybody is out to read your e-mails.

When they call, I have this pre-recorded and just play it over the phone and hang up.

Had a similar call last year, was something along the lines of there being a virus on my computer that had called to talk me through removing. I kept him on the line for over an hour as I bullshitted that his 'advice' wasn't working...... Even went for a shit if I remember rightly......motherlickers....

They infected him then asked for money??

I was bored and had a lovely bit of smoke.......it amused me.

Happened to me about two months ago. I hung up on him, went online searching for the MS tel.#, using the first result in the search. I got the same lousy connection, with what sounded like a phone bank. I even think it was the same guy. Hung up, found the correct # for MS and informed them of the scam, gave them the #. They new about it but took interest in the tel.#. Did a search just now and I see the first results in it are now the correct info and tel.#'s for MS. Bastages.

LOL. I did the same thing with a fellow who was going to give ma a free .gov grant. He wanted my bank account # so it could be direct deposited. I drug it on over the course of a few hours and many phone call by giving him correc routing numbers and bogus account numbers.

It amused me also.

He is older.. and he said everytime he has ever spoken with anyone regarding his computer they have an "indian" accent and that caused him to think they might be legit.
