We need to accept that North Korea isn't going to do anything of note.

We've been playing what-if for a long time now...

What if the talking heads speak in error and North Korea in reality does have functioning ICBMs that can reach the United States?

What if North Korean agents were to smuggle in backpack/suitcase nuclear weapons for a coordinated explosion?

No.

What if North Korea is about to pull off one of the greatest acts of psychological warfare in military history? What if the North Korean military has succeeded in positioning missiles outside North Korea, in proximity to the United States? What if the explicit threat to Guam, the missile mobilization in North Korea, and the photograph of Kim Jong-un with the missile trajectories in the background were all part of a cunning psychological ploy? For these activities, even when they register as hot-air saber-rattling, require the almost subconscious acceptance of a single presupposition: that North Korea will be firing its missiles from its home soil.

This what-if game can carry on indefinitely, but it isn't worth it. There are real issues out there that demand our time. We need to accept that North Korea isn't going to do anything of note. Perhaps it will test a missile or two -- nothing more.

But who cares about a couple of Japanese defense systems? There's next to no chance they're going to have any relevance to a North Korean attack. I can't imagine that North Korea considers Japan all that high a priority.

so just to clarify, those are missle launchers now and not the defense patriot ones. Because, they look like the same things to me.

Is it weird that those launchers are just sitting out in the middle of the city? What is preventing anyone from running over to those things? Are there armed guards that we can't see out of the shot?
