Re: Why the North Korean missile launch is different this time and some history of North Korea.
Here is a good read, I was looking for NK estimated fuel numbers when I found it.

But this does address most everything I have been quietly watching that the news does not talk loudly about.

In theory NK only has a couple of weeks of fuel tops if a war breaks out and china is making it even tighter by the day.

Snip;Kim knows that the bottom line is that the only thing China fears more than a nuclear North Korea is a collapsed North Korea” and is likely banking on Beijing remaining its loyal benefactor, said Melissa Hanham, an East Asia security analyst at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Monterey. China would be inundated with North Korean refugees fleeing a conflict, Hanham said, and would do anything necessary to avoid drawing U.S. forces into the region to fulfill treaty obligations to defend South Korea.

China has reduced fuel shipments to North Korea in the past month, Hanham noted, and Chinese trade figures released Thursday showed a marked drop in goods bought from the impoverished country that relies heavily on Beijing’s trade and aid.

Now "officially" what we are agreeing on with china so far from April 13 2013.

Snip; The United States and China committed Saturday to a process aimed at ridding North Korea of its nuclear weapons, with the Obama administration gaining at least the rhetorical support of the only government that can exert significant influence over the reclusive North.

The question now is whether Beijing will make good on its pledge to uphold "peace and stability" and work with Washington on achieving the goal of a nuclear-free Korean peninsula.

When you pull up the Kim family tree, there is no one left to take control of the government if something happens to him.

It is looking like we were giving the green light for china to do whatever they want if this started to escalate anymore. There is no way they will let NK military leaders fight it out amongst themselves to control NK if something happens to Kimmy.

Keep an ear open everyone, the truth is in the shadows.

my take on the whole fiasco

There is something in the background, very likely that there is some sort of unsrest or social backlash/internal whispers about "lil kim's" ability to run NK that would cause them to ratchet up their rhetoric to this level

they will launch, it will fissle or Japan will shoot it out of the sky and that will be the end of that little fiasco,

I don;t beleive that NK army is willing and ready to acutally die for the "cause" this time around. More likely they will toss him out and start moving towards a more free society.

Re: Why the North Korean missile launch is different this time and some history of North Korea.
Actions speak louder than words when it comes to China. They will support North Korea no matter what. They are heavily invested in North Korea. They have joint agreements to develop North Korea's natural resources, oil in the Bonhai Sea, rare earth metals and uranium. They are not walking away from that or letting anyone else in. They also will not allow Kim's regime to fall and make those assets unavailable to them.

"Yet despite their frustration with Pyongyang, however, investigations in Dandong by The Sunday Telegraph last week suggest that the Chinese still prefer the devil they know. North Korea, even with its endless bluster and war threats, remains a country with which it can work, and represents a crucial buffer against what China sees as an American attempt to "encircle" it. If the regime collapsed, China would either be forced to take over the running of the country, or risk the possibility that it is subsumed into South Korea, bringing pro-western forces right to the Chinese border.
Which is why, on a single morning last week at the main branch of the Bank of Dandong, 11 people had no difficulty in transferring money from within China to the capital of North Korea despite the new UN sanctions.

While Kwangson bank may have lost its branch office, it is now possible instead to send money through this smaller local, but still state-run, bank.
Inside the branch, Wu Junhong, an assistant to the manager, held up a completed transfer slip. "Look," she said, "We just sent across €15,000 to Pyongyang - it's that easy.
"It takes one day, and you can send as much money as you like, there is no upper limit. And we offer five different currency options: dollars, euros, yen, Korean won and Chinese yuan."

"One of the main effects of the UN sanctions regime has been to authorise weapons seizures, but that will remain a largely ineffective measure until the Chinese implement it," said a former Western diplomat.

At the Bank of Dandong, Mrs Wu laughed at the suggestion that the sanctions might have stopped the flow of money. "How is that possible?" she asked.
"Business is still going on. We have lots of people every day."

Kim was little bit angry about USA nuclear treats and because of successful nuke tests was no so afraid as usual. Of course western bullshit media skipped all that dirty part and claimed that Kim just had PMS so started talking like this.

It is very important part of history never forget that when Empire of Japan was losing everywhere it was USA who first suggested to share Korea with Soviets 50/50 and Soviets agreed.
It WAS plan that Soviets invade North and USA South, but because of continuously bad weather and then pour that part of Asia roads Soviets arrived way after war and after USA invaded their part with sea landings to take their gift.

Just saying that if #4 was to happen and Japan or the US shoots it down. If that thing happens to have a nuclear war head on it what will happen when we hit it?? Also what if it has an EMP based war head? Would we set it off if we hit it??

IF it did, which it doesn't...the odds of anything detonating anything, even an EMP are probably a million to one against. It's one of the best ways to stop a nuclear missile from exploding, blow it up with another missile, anti-missile missile. Any nuclear "warhead" is very sophisticated, and takes a fairly delecate and complicated chain of events to make work, critical timing and trigger devices etc etc...blowing them out of the sky will almost always cause them to break and fail.

You would have the radioactive material to deal with after, but that is a minuscule problem when compared to a nuclear blast.

Firing the missile(s) after the Monday parade would be good for them. It would be surprising since almost everyone expects the launch on Monday at the latest and it could avoid drama if the launch fails.
I wouldn't be surprised if it happens AFTER the parade.

Good read SHR,

But I don't think you should necessarily be a leading authority on North Korea, what they're capable of, and what the world expects of them.

That being said we really know nothing about them. I know not where you get your intel, and it's probably none of my business, but for you to say the intelligence communities don't know is mildly asinine.

None the less, good read.

In March, as the North Korean crisis began to heat up, President Obama ordered another 14 interceptors be sent to Greely, bringing its arsenal to 44 from 2017.

"If all it has to worry about is a single missile coming at it, chance it could kill it. If you fire six missiles at one time... and if one gets through, your whole day is ruined.... The problem is sooner or later North Korea will improve its missile ranges, so the question you have to ask is will our anti-missile capabilities make sufficient progress so it could work against a more robust threat?" Sigal said.
"What we've got at Greely is of some limited utility. It's better than nothing," he said.

First of all Kim Un isn't going to be nuking anyone with an atomic warhead on any missile, they don't have the ability to do that, regardless of what any "intelligence" agency is speculating about. Even IF they could, which they cannot, I seriously doubt anyone, even the crazyass North Koreans are in the mood for suicide anytime soon, they just aren't that stupid. They also aren't going to EMP'ing anyone or using any other sort of exotic weapons, so you can forget the hyped up bullshit, we all know that kind of crap never happens anyway.

 Quoting: SHR

clappa

Very impressed with that summary.

I think Option 4 that US would shoot down a missile is out of the question. Japan would do it, if it came near them, as you don't know where their junk might land. I somehow think Option 2 is more likely.

what a show all this is.

One of my closets friends - a real soulmate - returned from Seoul this week after a month stay in the S-Korean capital, and she said that nobody there is making a big issue of the N-Korean threats.

It's business as usual to them.

If CNN and all the other alphabet soup newscasters would put only 10% of the time they spend on their 'N-Korea threat news' into explaining the world's economic situation...
