Homeland Security Officer and Wife Embezzle over 500 Grand and Get Slap on the Wrist!

GREENVILLE, S.C. —An Upstate man who worked for Homeland Security and his wife were sentenced Thursday for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars they used to buy country club memberships, luxury vehicles, homes, vacations and jewelry.

James "Dean" Tucker, 54, and Julie Greene Tucker, 52, of Greer, pleaded guilty in November 2012, to a criminal bill of information charging them with two counts of filing false tax returns. Julie Tucker also pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud.

“For approximately 15 months the Tuckers used stolen money to fund a luxurious lifestyle way above their means,” said U.S. Attorney Tompkins.
