Boxed meals for the apocalypse. (Post your favorite brands!)
So, in a survival situation a good meal can really help ones moral. Overall it's your willingness to continue on that will keep you alive. So, storing away some comfort foods could really make the difference between life and death. In our world today, boxed foods aren't necessarily good for you. But, if there was a major food shortage tomorrow, or the world completely went to shit. Your dietary needs would completely change. The sodium in the boxed meals could really help you. Especially if you spent a long day sweating and working in the field.

In my survival stash I keep a variety of boxed meals. Most of them are rice meals. My favorite brand is Zatarain's their jambalaya isn't bad. And I highly suggest you give it a try. What are some of your favorites?

I've always like Chef Boy Ar Dee's pizza in a box kit.....

Yea, I know it's not good food for you, but it's tasty as hell....especially the pepperoni flavored ones...I suppose one could bake it on a cast iron pot over some smouldering ruins...

My dad used to make that for us growing up. And I think in a survival situation. Something like that could REALLY help bring your moral up. Especially if you've been eating twigs, shrubs, and small game. Good tip!

I am a popcorn fanatic. I hate microwave popcorn, though.

So I keep some popcorn on hand. If I don't want to waste butter on it I can douse it in hot sauce and salt. Mmmmmm.

Good carbs, too.

I was basically poor as a child and that was served a lot.....another cheap food I grew up on, and I was non the wiser, I thought I was eating like a king was tuna salad....

Yea, I know tuna cans aren't boxed meals, but to me, another comfort food.

What about those Suddenly Salad boxed meals.....they actually have dehydrated veggies in them I think....

That too, might be another comfort/morale building foods...

If you have the resources, the best way to really go is freeze dried stuff.......it really is almost as good as fresh food...

Speaking of tuna salad and kings, my husband has the best taste buds and always creates really delicious food. He fixes me tuna salad, one can of tuna (in water), 2 tablespoons chopped onions, 2 tablespoons canned corn, 2 tablespoons mayo, and 2 tablespoons green pimento chopped olives. He buys frozen biscuits/rolls and bakes them and butters them (just on top) and cuts them into little slices with tomatoes and we eat this, for breakfast sometimes.

He didn't even know it was called tuna salad. The shit he does with tuna, I still refuse to try the tuna and oatmeal mix but I bet that's good too. Another good tuna mix is can of tuna, small can of corn, fresh chopped tomato and ranch dressing.

Velveeta Mac n Cheese! Just add boiling water, no need for milk or butter. Or Chunky Soup, it has meat and veggies and is pretty damn good. Throw it over a camp fire and you have a nice meal. :) Also you can't go wrong with ramen.

Today's apocalyptic meal isn't boxed, I'm fixing some frozen pork shoulder I just found in the freezer with fresh cabbage so it will be a stew. I'll simmer it for a few hours with chopped onions, salt, pepper, paprika and some defrosted snow water (it's billions of years old).

We had French toast without the cinnamon for our apocalypse breakfast this morning. My husband wanted to fix me some burritos but he didn't have time before he left for work.

I bought 2 boxes of those suddenly salad boxes, I'll think I'll make one today.
