Canada does not tax lottery wins :)
In America, lottery winnings are taxed as income, meaning nearly half of the prize money can go right to the tax man.

Canada's tax system, on the other hand, promotes double the victory. While later interest earned on any prize money is treated as income and thus taxed, lottery jackpots are not taxed in Canada, meaning winners get their full payout.

I already bought a couple tickets early this morning

I usually only play Lotto Max

Today is the first time I bought Lotto 6/49 tickets in almost 15 years

I'm surprised the Lotto 6/49 game jackpot even grew higher than 50MIL

Lotto Max always has bigger payoutsthumbs

In Canada do you get the option to stay anonymous if you win the lottery?

A guy in the city where I live won $30 million. That was years ago and he is still hounded for money. So much so that he had to move to the country and build a place with gates and hire a security guard.

He is a groaner. He and his boss were traveling back from a conference and stopped at at store for a snack. Buddy bought 2 tickets, with his boss going halves on one. He let his boss pick which one they were halves on. His boss picked wrong. Out of kindness he gave his ex-boss $1 million.

Not in Canada. You pay half still.

One guy did get away with it though by waiting almost one year to claim the prize (1 year claim period or lose it). He claimed it and transferred the money to another country, his country of origin, and left his wife high and dry.

Nope. They publish the winners names allover the media so all the crazy's can come & try to do robbery.

They shouldn't publish names.
They say they have to do that so people know the prizes are actually won. That's B/S. They can prove the payouts are being paid without publishing peoples names.

Look what happened here a few years ago

Lets see, everybody forks over millions of dollars to a govt. controlled lottery and then their computer prints out the number combination that nobody has and on and on and on.
