apparently it is a physical device & does not actually use a force field in the star trek sense.
"The system, dubbed "Trophy", uses radar to track incoming threats and then destroys them when they're in range by attacking the warheads with an "invisible force", according to Fox. Quite how it does this is, unsurprisingly, classified, but Defense Update understands Trophy is "designed to form a 'beam' of fragments, which will intercept any incoming HEAT threat, including RPG rockets at a range of 10 metres to 30 meters from the protected platform".
The countermeasure is, then, actually physical - a fact confirmed by Defense Update, which explains the system has "an automatic reload mechanism to handle multiple attacks", although that's about as specific as it gets.
The sceptical among you should note that Trophy has allegedly completed "hundreds of live tests with the Israel Defense Forces and demonstrated effective neutralisation of anti-tank rockets and guided missiles, high safety levels, insignificant residual penetration, and minimal collateral damage".
Trophy is claimed to be effective against several simultaneous threats from different directions, whether the protected vehicle is stationary or moving, and in all weathers. According to Fox, Trophy will soon get a chance to strut its stuff in Iraq. " |

"There were also lasguns, which were laser weapons. If a lasgun beam hit a
>shield, it would result in an explosion. The size of the explosion would
vary
>unpredictably, but at the least it would kill the wearer of the shield and
the
>user of the lasgun. At most, it would be an explosion on the scale of a
>nuclear weapon. This meant that you had to be very careful about using
>lasguns. In the later stories, after the death of Leto II, there seemed to
be
>a shift away from shields and towards greater use of lasguns. I imagine
that
>you'd tend to rely on one, or the other, but not both." |

As always, the Fox report contains elements of truth and a bit of misinformation with a splash of tailored analysis.
I suspect the beam of fragments statement would just be a diversion, a little dis-information for cover. By saying "fragment" now the viewer visualizes something physical and real.
In view of Bearden's writings I would simply point out this technology is not new, Israel is a major player (one of 10 countries in the world possessing it - the top 4 in order being Russia Japan Israel Brazil). Bearden explains this in precise detail; you mathematically produce a shape using Fortier Algebra and use points on that shape to multiplex (combine) some 25 such points and modulate them (imbedded onto a carrier wave) so that the total radio signal is a net sum zero (defined as a scalar wave). A second such wave is constructed and transmitted from a separate transmitter and where these two scalar waves interfere you have the transmitted electromagnetic energy released; in this case it's released as a hemisphere because of the Fortier construction.
Interferometry is established science and routinely used in astronomy as well as biology. The only "new" thing here is the scalar wave. [link to www.cyberspaceorbit.com] |

I also noticed the similarity with Dune and wondered if they release some of these technologies in fiction to prep us. 99.999% of what affects our reality will be undetectable by our senses. Man must learn to think for himself rather than follow blindly what he has been taught.

You are crazy, there is no such supernatural technology - let it go.
If there were a button that when pushed, destroyed all life upon earth, and this button could be constructed relatively easily... would you publish the know-how to the public?
wake up |

 | | Re: TROPHY: New Israeli force field weapon | Quote | Wave physics is not supernatural.
Foremost I would not release WMD tech to politicians and military, nor industry--as these dinks might be dumb enough to make weapons [one of several choices] exploiting wave theory.
Einstein eventually realized this with much remorse. [link to www.cyberspaceorbit.com] |

In the context of a primitive culture this is apparent.
Maybe more sophisticated cultures might opt for a stargate or two. [link to www.cyberspaceorbit.com] |

Pay attention. If there were a button that when pushed killed, literally, all life on Earth would you publish it?
Everything that is happening must for us to continue living... it would have been over decades ago if things weren't as they are.

 | | Re: TROPHY: New Israeli force field weapon | Quote | My best understanding is that the matrix is a layered reality/structure/life-form contained within a membrane.
The membrane as I experienced it reminded me of a placenta.
Although I understand mathematics, geometry/science might be useful tools to approximate the nature of the matrix, in the larger scope at the higher layers they do not apply. Mortal technologies do not apply. What we call mind does not go all the way--out there...
