The same thing happened at IUPUI in Indianapolis a few weeks ago. A guy was "seen" with a "long gun" in a parking lot, and suddenly there was over 100 cops on campus. They didn't find anyone and nothing actually happened, and open carry is legal in Indiana, even on college campuses.

Probably not allowed on campus with it, most likely.

Sorry, but if I saw a guy on campus walking around with a gun, I'd run in the other direction.

Carroll University sent a text alert to students after the public safety office received a report of a man with a gun near the tennis courts.

"Near the tennis courts" means nothing. Isn't necessarily on campus.

Also, in Wisconsin, it's only illegal to take a firearm (except for contained transport) into a university building, or public university campuses. This is a private university, so the claim he's committing a crime, they have to have evidence that there are signs clearly posted at entrances to the campus stating carry is not allowed.

Hypothetical: Guy is walking down the street, well within the open carry law, walks over "near the tennis court" for whatever reason.

Maybe he is a shooter? Who knows? I just think it's ridiculous in a state that allows open carry to go into panic mode over some guy with a gun.
