so are you saying once the protective coating around the cancer that the body develops is compromised the cancer cells inside it can not spread?

and are you also saying that chemotherapy is not carcinogenic?

I'm so sorry to hear this. Cancer has hit my family numerous times. I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma 5 years ago as well. Luckily mine was able to be contained and removed, so my prognosis was very good. I know that terrible feeling when they first tell you.

The best advice I can give is to stay positive and don't give up hope. Its amazing how much your attitude can play a part in your recovery. Chemo can be really hard to deal with so take it slow and surround yourself with loved ones for strength in the tough times. Or come to GLP for support if you have a bad day. I know there are many people here that will be supportive and send those positive vibes your way.

Stay strong. Be optimistic.

I hope you find support and comfort from your environment during your treatment and recovery. Find the time to laugh as much as possible and recognize the joy all around.
Peace and happiness to you as you heal and recover. You will beat this!

They are going to start the first major Chemo they call "Chop"

Tonight so I'm a little nervous about that.

I've got lots of home things to do. Very interested in the baking soda deal. I've read a lot of home remedies and that one is interesting.


Also the diet changes to juicing and vegetables.......

a cancer is encased by a sack produced by the body to keep it from spreading. if you pierce this sack then the cancer cells inside it can spread.

so if your really don't have cancer they will damn sure make sure you do!

Concentrated cannabis is needed to cause apoptosis - smoking may not be enough.

Allopurinol is for kidneys, it's pre Chemo treatment

Zosyn for Antibiotic

Oxycontin for pain relief cause by the tumor smooshing my guts around,

Prednisone /anti inflamitory keeps the tumor from getting bigger. It drains some of the fluid....


No sure about exact doses but those are the ones I can think of now. The chart is an EMR on a computer I don't have access to anymore. No more paper charts.

He definitely has no idea what he's talking about. I had biopsies when I had cancer, and it did not spread anywhere else.

I had Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma and beat it at 20 years old, and am now 25. I did chemotherapy for 8 months, with treatments held every other week. So 16 treatments of ABVD in total.

The main thing that sucked was the actual day of receiving chemo. It took about 6 hours to administer the ABVD drugs, and sitting in a hospital bed receiving the stuff was extremely unpleasant to say the least. It was a huge psychological thing by the 8th treatment because I would start getting extremely nauseous before the IV was even in my arm! Just seeing the nurses bring the drugs towards me turned by stomach upside down.

When I got home, I still felt a little off, but the following days until the next chemo weren't really bad at all.

After my first treatment, my persistent cough stopped, my appetite came back, and all my other side affects of the cancer disappeared for good. My appetite actually came back with a vengeance. I gained about 20lbs in 2 weeks before my 2nd chemo treatment! I really craved steak after my first treatment as well.

Some advice I can give you is that, although your oncologist may prescribe several drugs to deal with nausea and other things, if you can, try to avoid using them. I actually stopped taking all prescriptions about half way through and realized I didn't have any nausea or other issues. The prescription drugs can lead to other fun things like constipation, restlessness, and so on.

They did a CT needle biopsy. The tumor is right under my stomach wall. I'm not too worried about it "spreading" due to the biopsy.

I know chemo is bad but um...I think the success rate is higher than many give it credit for.

Seriously you aren't helping me or others with cancer. I hope you never get it, you'll be in bad shape.

I was IIIA malignant melanoma with a Breslow depth of 3.9mm and Clark level III. I also had the sentinental lymph node mapping surgery and went through interferon treatment as well. I was 32 when diagnosed and just had my 38th birthday with no signs of recurrence or metastization thus far. Best wishes for a positive recovery.

watch out for ANY skin rash, if you get it then STOP the Allopurinol IMMEDIATELY!

Prednisone is a very dangerous drug as it suppresses the immune system all over your body! if the chemo fails your body will no longer be fighting the cancer!

Earlier I suggested changing your nic. Why not find something uplifting.

Your nic is not good especially considering where your at.

Why not change it. I will personally come on GLP everyday and post a thread to encourage people to leave you feedback so you can not only attain your current level but soon surpass!!

Will you at least consider?

It may adjust as more the pathology reports come back and they get a final picture. Thanks for the advice.
