How Were The Bombs Detonated?
I haven't been able to find anything, just speculation. If it were cell phones that detonated them, are there phone records of the two suspects calling out at the time of the blast? I see the pic of the white hat guy putting a bag down behind the 8 yr old kid, so if it really was a bomb in there, how did he set it off?
Could it have been a timer? If so, how long after the bombs were placed did they explode? Is there any photographic evidence of either of the suspects getting in their bags, possibly starting a timer?
To me, this is a very important part of the puzzle. Did the two suspects set the bombs down at the same time, rendezvous at a certain location and hit a switch or make a call? Or, did they head off in different directions and plan something like "when you hear mine explode, wait a minute and call (or press) yours"?
Which of the two suspects' bombs detonated first? Is there any evidence that a cell phone was used for the detonation? In the pictures of the bomb fragments, I see nothing that indicates a phone, just a couple of batteries and a radio shack electronics board (and of course the remnants of the pressure cooker). Why do they keep pushing the cell phone theory?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated...

RC toy electronic boards, remote controlled radio frequencies. Based on the board that was found after the blast. I heard several RC enthusiasts called in to report they have seen similar boards in their equipment.

I can think of a few reasons why they wouldn't. including how cheaply it can be done with the RC equipment they are talking about. Probably $20 bucks each. Then you just plug in your batteries and push a button. Instant remote detonation. No waiting for your cell phone carrier to drop your call. LOL

Ok, so how close does one have to be in order for the signal to work? I know I have had several remote controlled cars, and out past 50 or so feet they lose contact. So if it was an RC electronics board, would they risk being that close to the blast for detonation? Also, there are all kinds of electronic gizmos all around in the pictures. Cell phones, radios, erc. Would any of those disrupt the signal? Or worse, could a radio potentially set off the bomb early? Like when it is still on the suspects shoulder?
I would think they would take the precaution of not "arming" the switch until the bomb was placed, so I ask again; is there are any photographic evidence of the suspects going into their bags anywhere?

There's probably an app that does it.

There is still the distance issue. Also, when I was in the Navy I worked with ordnance and we would set "HERO" conditions which required everyone to turn off radios and cell phones, because once ordnance was armed, a random radio signal could set it off. There were radios and cell phones everywhere that day...wouldn't this pose a problem of accidental detonation?

Re: How Were The Bombs Detonated?
there was a guy in black digging in a backpack on the ground at the first bombsite. I don't have a link but I think it was on 4chan. I kind of thought the guy was looting the bomb, arming it on the ground in public seems pretty tacky. Not professional.

What you really need to ask yourself is, do you really want OR need to know?

Next question is, would you believe it if it was shown to you?

Jeff Bauman who had his legs blow off said (allegedly) that the suspect walked up, dropped the bag, and "seconds" later it detonated. I think his brother said similiarly.

These things were set off almost right away.

The suspect dropped 'em, walked a safe distance, set them off.

I'm just not sure what would constitute "safe" in their minds... 30 ft? 50ft? Would it take ten seconds to get that far?

I think the speculation these were RC remotes makes a lot of sense.

These things could also detonate randomly due to EF interference -- they said that on the scanner yesterday, the cops: "If you value your lives, turn off your cell phones."
 Quoting: Super Bowl Dave

Good call Dave...I see the pictures posted above but don't see that being anywhere near the location of the bomb blast...I will continue to comb thru pictures. The RC thing seems a lot more logical/possible/probable than a cell phone activated detonation...
