Anonymous Coward User ID: 2002267 New Zealand 04/25/2013 06:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I tend to believe that we did go to the moon. For one reason there are thousands of moon rocks that have been studied in thousands of different labs all over the world. From what I understand these rocks are different than our own. So if they are unlike earth rocks then where did they come from? Quoting: Unixlike Then there is Apollo 13. They would have had to fake that for 3 days. Then there is Ham radio. I'm sure there were many ham operators listening in on the communications. They would have figured out something was wrong when communication ability did not coincide with line of sight with the moon, but with the typical orbital pattern that they had all probably become accustomed to from all the early apollo, gemini, and mercury flights. in holland the moon rocks were found to be petrified wood. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30857551 Australia 04/25/2013 07:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OK, a perspective I havent heard before about this debate. Some folks believe the moon is a watching platform, or controlling platform, that monitors the Earth. Some think its very existance, size, placement (for eclipses, to mask interstellar travel) is such that it physically controls us, or at the least limits us. So why fake a landing? Now I am one of those who doesnt think we went there, so saying that it was about tech' ego, or being ahead of the Ruskies ideologically etc doesnt cut it. If it is a control centre/mechanism, might a faked landing be a message to the 'owners' that we can shape Men's minds and make them believe anything WE want them to believe, beyond your control. i.e. the jigs up, we know what you're doing. In that scenario, the astronauts and the program are still heros, and the feat extraordinary. We went there purists wont like it, but it might make some on the border line feel a bit more comfy with the idea. My Dad met Armstrong, if only for a few seconds, and a hand shake, and told me of an innate sadness in the man, despite the fact it was a motivational speech. The new orbiters, from countries other than the US and Russia, and outside the scope of influence could certainly use the lack of evidence up there as a bargaining tool. Might be why the US economy is in the toilet. Seemed to coincide with the Chinese orbiters. Those tiny, shiney, blurry images that 'prove' we landed, apparently showing the landing site.... c'mon, we can read a digital watch from our orbit, and we have an atmosphere to contend with, and all that noise. |

A personal friend of mine who I have known for years worked on the Apollo project. I have discussed this issue with him and you can almost see his blood boiling when I tell him there are people who think we never put a man on the moon. He was involved in the project where the astronauts put a special mirror on the moon that is used to this day to bounce laser beams off of to measure the distance to the moon. That measurement does change over time. So how the fuck did the mirror get there and get placed properly if the astronauts didn't put it there?? You stupid fucking bastards aren't worth one drop of sweat off his balls and are an insult to the thousands of people who worked their ass off accomplishing one of the crowning achievements of mankind!! No wonder the country is going down the toilet, the schools are putting out whole fucking generations of kids with not enough sense to keep their pants up high enough to cover their sorry lazy asses. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2002267 New Zealand 04/25/2013 08:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Australian movie “the Dish” is very subtle in the way it points out how they faked the moon landing. The ABC tv Archives discovered the original NASA moon landing footage of the landing and gave it back to NASA in the 80`s. the original moon landing film was played from Australia and beamed around the world. The hitch in transmission is where they changed from low Orbit transmission to local albeit Australian transmission. |

LHP598 User ID: 38120397 United States 04/25/2013 09:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wrong. In Holland, a rock, suspected to be a Moon rock, owned by a private citizen and never verified was immediately recognized as not a Moon rock the first time anyone slightly familiar with geology looked at it. It had been in the possession of a the former prime minister and was supposedly given to him by the US ambassador. However, this supposedly happened in 1969 when no rocks were given out at all. It was also supposedly given to a former prime minister when the royal family at the time received nothing. The card with it does not identify it as a Moon rock. It isn't even clear if the card should be with the rock at all. There are two far more likely scenarios. 1. the ambassador gave the former prime minister the rock and the former prime minister, who was said by his family to be hard of hearing, misunderstood what it was. or 2. The card was not associated with the rock at all and after his death when his family went through his stuff they assumed it was a Moon rock. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30628893 They couldnt do it today let alone then. the only reason it can't be done today is nobody wants to pay for it. If somebody was willing to put up the money then we'd be up there. Since Apollo's budget was cut back before it was even over there was no reason to keep building the Saturn V so we don't currently have a heavy lifting booster to get us there. But there is no technical reason that one could not be built if we had the money and political will. Quoting: BadHairDay The NRO, CIA, and NSA would love for you to believe that we can read a digital watch from orbit but we can't. Resolution is based on the Dawes limit which is directly related to the size of the main lens. We know the max size of the satellites that are up there based on the launch vehicles used. Simple math shows that the ability to read a digital watch from orbit is still a fantasy. If you have to insist that you've won an Internet argument, you've probably lost badly. - Danth's Law |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28864482 So? Why haven't they? I think John Lear is right with this one. We did go back. We landed 6 times total. But Congress cut funding and has kept NASA's budget low ever since. Russia tried to go and had an active program until 1974 but couldn't keep their heavy lifting booster, the N-1, from exploding on liftoff. No other country has yet had the infrastructure or the desire to get there. China is approaching that point but they aren't there yet.
