Stark warning over climate change - Planetary Temperature expected to rise 3 Degrees Celsius
Stark warning over climate change
The Earth is likely to experience a temperature rise of at least 3C, the UK government's chief scientist says.

Re: Stark warning over climate change - Planetary Temperature expected to rise 3 Degrees Celsius
The under sea volcanoes around the Arctic and Antarctica erupted around 1998. They continue to vent, and warm the poles.

The ice melts and changes the salinity of the seas. The water is less saltier and vaporizes more easily, causing the air in the poles to be more humid.

The air and sea circulation has been altered and the weather patterns are changing.

The average citizens complain about the evolving weather. The meteorologists say we have another 100 years. I think it is accellerating and we have 7 years.

This is very scary stuff, OP.

The Independent Online Edition has an article on this, too, that is a little more in depth. For instance, It say:

"According to computer-modelled predictions for the Government, a three-degree rise in temperatures could put 400 million more people at risk of hunger; leave between one and three billion more people at risk of water stress; cause cereal crop yields to fall by between 20 and 400 million tons; and destroy half the world's nature reserves."

[link to news.independent.co.uk]

And up here in Canada we have an idiot in office who is dismantling our Climate Change Program that studies this issue, and he also seems to be backing out of the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

==================

You maybe right. But let's face it, the interested parties behind both sides of the arguement can finance research to produce results that conform to their respective agendas.

I have to look around at some of the other things happening like the changing water levels in Tibetan lakes...
[link to timesofindia.indiatimes.com]

...and Canada's changing Arctic climate...
[link to www.iol.co.za]

...and that in "In Alaska alone, Correll said 143 indigenous communities will have to be re-located at a cost of $100 million to $400 million each over the next 25 years." because of this change.

If global warming stopped in 1998 as the title of the article you refer us to claims, then how do we explain such contradictory observations?

I feel we are getting hit with a Triple Punch here.

1. The Geomagnetic Field is fading, allowing in more Sunlight.

2. The Sun is going through a high period of activity, and is "Brighter than Normal."

3. Greenhouse Gases, even in a reduced state elevates temperatures, because you don't have that pollution cushion stopping the Sunlight.

I agree with that other poster. 7 years and we'll see climate change so dramatic, Mankind will curse God.

In honesty, I had heard about how much the some Glaciers had melted, but seeing them in the trailer, has really impacted and hit home
for me, sometimes a visual is alot more powerful than only the facts.

This article "Scientists debate global warming at National Hurricane Conference" posted at a Florida news site Friday shows just how heated the debate is among scientists/researcher.

Makes it so difficult for people like me who have no scientific background to discern between all the facts and beliefs msm throws at us.

Amazing Trailer. Truly a wake up call. I can see Rush Limpballs debunking it now, but I think Gore is on to something. My only problem would be, with something like this occuring would the Globalswine step up Agenda 21: Worldwide Depopulation.

There are some more fanatical Greens that would love to see ALL of humanity wiped off the planet, and just give it back to the animals and shrubbery. I don't think something that drastic is needed. But Scientists can't even give us a definative answer to why we are heating up. So what should we do?

The Bible says: "The little Foxes spoil the Vine." Or in other words, the little things we do matter. It's all Chaos Theory: Every action we do, has a reaction somewhere else. Or, in other words: You clap your hands at your Window, and can cause a Typhoon in Asia.

My basic plan, for myself is this: To walk whenever I can, instead of driving to my destination. I also bought a bunch of those Energy Saver Lights. I can do more. I plan on getting my computer here to run off Alternate Energy, like Solar Panels, or maybe even Wind. I haven't thought that far ahead.

I cannot tell others how to live, but I can say if you care about this Issue, you should make a little effort to change one or two things about your life.

Remember: "Little Foxes spoil the Vine."

-------------------------------------

If Gore was allowed to take his rightful place as President, there'd be 200,000 people still alive. There would be hundreds of thousands of Soldiers not maimed, and disfigured.

I did vote for Bush in 2000, to my sin, but having said that, I soon found out my Vote didn't matter. Neither did yours. The Council on Foreign Relations laden Supreme Court put their favorite Council on Foreign Relations Candidate into Office. Mainly, George Walker "The Destructor" Bush.

People talk about going to March on Washington. Marching and Protesting against this issue, or that issue.

You want to march to where it will make a difference? March on Harold Pratt House in New York. The Home of the Council on Foreign Relations. That is your "Shadow Government" though they represent themselves as a "Think Tank."

The Pentagon is no wacko, liberal group, generally speaking it is conservative.

The Pentagon usually goes along with whatever Political Entity that blows along. The very fact they are speaking up gives Creedence to this Issue. I'd like to see Rush Limpballs debunk a Pentagon Report.

Climate change has been going on since this pile of dust became a planet. It's a natural progression that isn't caused by man, plant or animal. We just came out of an Ice Age and are heading in to warm period before heading back in to an ice age again. Of course none of us will ever see the cycles change since it will take millons of years.

It will continue no matter what we do!!!

Re: Stark warning over climate change - Planetary Temperature expected to rise 3 Degrees Celsius
I think it would be inane to blame it entirely on man. Surely there are planetary systems that react and change due to stimuli placed upon it. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Having said that, that still doesn't exempt mankind from being good Stewards of the Planet. Evangelicals say: This world is toast: Do what thou will, it matters not. Throw garbage on the road side. Drive your big SUV's, Church Buses, etc.

I believe you'll not only be judged for your sins, but what you do to others and how you were good stewards. This encompasses, your own personal life, the life of your family, the way you treat others, the way you treated animalkind, and the way you treated the planet.

God gave us this big blue marble. He expects us to use wisdom in dealing with it.

Re: Stark warning over climate change - Planetary Temperature expected to rise 3 Degrees Celsius
REALLY, three degrees, and I wonder if he takes the following information into account

Then he needs to explain why the overall temperature has DROPPED (albeit siightly) since around 1998.

9 Apr 06 - “For many years now, human-caused climate change has been viewed as a large and urgent problem. In truth, however, the biggest part of the problem is neither environmental nor scientific, but a self-created political fiasco. Consider the simple fact, drawn from the official temperature records of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia , that for the years 1998-2005 global average temperature did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a rate that differs significantly from zero). “

“Yes, you did read that right. And also, yes, this eight-year period of temperature stasis did coincide with society's continued power station and SUV-inspired pumping of yet more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere….”

“Does something not strike you as odd here?”

Click here to read the rest of this great article by Professor Bob Carter,
a geologist at James Cook University , Queensland , engaged in paleoclimate research.

Re: Stark warning over climate change - Planetary Temperature expected to rise 3 Degrees Celsius
The temperature has not dropped since 1998, in fact climate modelers have drastically increased the temperature changes in their predictions. The predictions before 1998 were much milder than what we are seeing now.

Further, as the arctic warms up the thawing of permafrost is not only causing all kinds of structural problems with buildings and roads, but it is releasing huge amounts of methane. That process will speed up the heating, because methane is a much stronger greenhouse gas than CO2.

Sure the sun is more active, but the dust cloud we began passing through in the 1990s is weakening the longer wavelengths of EM radiation. It might also be insulating us some. We are blasting away with HAARP which raises ionospheric temperatures to 50,000C, but HAARP is just the USA. Other countries have woodpecker, etc, etc, so everybody is in the game of weather manipulation. That shit can't even be modeled because it is all classfiied. You simply have to deal with what we can control and let everything else do what it is going to do. You don't walk to the edge of a cliff that has 100mph gusts of wind and try to take a leak over the edge unless you have a death wish. You don't pump the atmosphere full of CO2 and hope that we will be lucky and nothing else will happen. That's a fool's game.

By the way, what have you been noticing about this spring in the northern hemisphere. Up here in the far north we are baking, but it should be another month for our last frost. We might have had the last frost two or three weeks ago. Could be a toasty summer.

By the way that column in the telegraph.uk by Clark is an OPINION column that gives no specific information or citations whatsoever. It doesn't even give his website. Presumably he has one so that he can share all this 'cutting edge' information with us. As with these opinion guys who are "researchers in the field" it is usually their own dog that they are flogging. They see correlation and think it is causation. This is a tremendously diverse field with people studying all kinds of atmospheric and earth processes. Leave the overview to the people who try to take ALL of this into account, not somebody who has THE graph he generated.

Using data from the most recent sattelite surveys of the polar regions, they are now saying to expect a sea level rise of about 1 foot every five years. That puts many heavily populated costal areas like in Florida underwater in a few decades because many areas are only five feet above sea level now.

"There's certainly no global warming where I live"

68803, global warming is not the same as regional climate warning. For example the UK is going to be getting massively colder as a result of all this, not warmer. The "global" part is the overall average temperature, but regional effects will vary, with some places being more radically affected than others (and not always in the warm direction).

That has to be as callous, selfish and short sighted as it is humanly possible to be. Bush and his advisors are truly the scum of the earth.

Better not do anything for our future and our childrens future because it "could harm the world economy". They will burn in hell. There is absolutely no doubt about it.

The earth is a living, breathing, and evolving macro organism. It is constantly changing. This is one of the more major ones, prophesized for thousands of years now. What is stark is that it is slowly coming to pass.
