Carrots scream when you rip them from the earth and crunch their precious bodies with your teeth. Beans and peas are tiny plant babies, fetuses, they have feelings too when you boil them alive and grind their little helpless bodies to make some kind of veggie nut butter. You think that's okay though I guess, to boil, maim and mutilate beautiful living plants to feed your nasty animal body. I bet you even eat leaves alive instead of waiting for them to die and dry up naturally just to enjoy their torture.

After rearing my own meat for the last 5 years I would not go back to 'factory produced produce'. My animals are well looked after and when their time does come, they are slaughtered on the farm. The meat tastes good because the animals are treated well.

How can you rear animals..they get to love you trust you then one day you butcher them and eat them?

I know how farm animals get to love and trust their keepers..city folk might not know this

So, is OP for the ethical and humane "killing" of animals for food or is he just against eating animals period.?
 Quoting: Astral Goat

i do not belive there is such a thing as ethical killing or breeding of animals, but i do support humane animal husbandry, because i know that some people have a need for the money and or food that comes from the breeding and killing of animals.

Whial I believe the title of this thread is completely false. People would cirtainly eat alot less.

I believe we as a species have distanced ourselves from what is actually required to consume meat products. If we were still required to some how be personally involved in the butcher of any animal we choose to consume I believe we would consume alot less, have more respect for all forms of life, and be drestically less wateful.

I have seen a goat dance when sung to

I have seen a dove play with it and kiss eachother

I have seen cats sleeping next to doves

I have seen cats caress dogs

the beauty of how it can be..if we only woke up and realized we are living in what I believe in a very wrong way which is affecting us all..creating waves of suffering that linger

I have seen Coyotes eat a calf and they were quite happy with a full belly, the calf on the other hand did not enjoy the experience. This is not love, it is nature in its natural state.

You kill?

then you are part of the problem op in my view

how on earth can you do that?

that is incomprehesible

this is a new devious spin

now people rant ..oh the alaughter houses..fair enough

but its ok to rear them free them kill them?

says who?

its still taking a life

Why in the coming paradise on earth this will stop? obviously because its Gods will? then obviously its not his will for this to happen?
They know and have been telling this in movies..tongue in cheek..that this is in my opinion..against Gods will..the key to much of the present status quo is the killing and eating meat

all suffering of any livin creature

creates the hell shared by all

what you do to others you are doin to yourself

it all comes back to us

it goes round and round..its tays in the reality we live and affects the whole..like air waves..but waves of suffering and pain

just because you dont see them doesnt mean they arent there..
you dont see radio waves..yet there they are

similar thing

I raise chickens and slaughter them for meat. It isn't pretty but it is part of the circle of life.

Come fall I will invite a hunter to hunt the back property and we will get a large portion of the meat.

I will also purchase a half a hog sometime in the next year from one of the local farms.

If more people ate healthier meats like I do there wouldn't be as many issues with health due to meat.

You're right.

I'm a meat eater, and I know if I really thought about it, I couldn't justify it.

I need to sit down some day very soon and open my eyes to what the industry really is and what goes on. I've been actively avoiding the truth and forcing myself not to think about it.

An animal's right to life is no less valid than ours. The fear they feel is the same we experience. Same with the pain. Their desire to live is just as strong as ours. Nothing about them is lesser than us.

Really, the only difference is they don't have a capacity for cruelty and we do. So who is really "animal"?

Well then that explains it

I am not ba vegetarian for health reasons..I am a vegetarian strictly and only because I LOVE THEM

I see them as my brothers and sisters in creation

I respect them and love them

and treat them as I think God would want me to

The level of civilization can and must be measured according to how a society treats its weakest members..and in my view that includes animals

Not only the slaughtering methods - but they raise the cattle / animals badly with bad diet, cramped dark environment, given shots that are bad for them and us - it is just bad energy overall.
I eat a lot of eggs, but almost no meat.
Yep most people who eat meat would be too pussy to participate or even watch the slaughters of the animals they eat.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 275112

Endurance was tested by Dr. Irving Fisher of Yale University, who conducted a series of experiments with forty-nine random individuals representing the two types of dietary habits. The first test was that of holding the arms horizontally. The comparison showed a great superiority on the side of the vegetarians.
“Only 2 of the 15 flesh eaters taking this test succeeded in holding their arms out over a quarter of an hour, whereas 22 of the 32 abstainers surpassed that limit. None of the flesh eaters reached half an hour, but 15 of the 32 abstainers surpassed that limit. Of these 9 exceeded an hour, 4 exceeded 2 hours and 1 exceeded 3 hours.”

The second test was that of deep knee bending. Only one of the ten flesh eaters reached 1000 times as against ten of the twenty-one abstainers. None of the former surpassed 2000 times as against 4 vegetarians. The flesh abstainers excelled with an average of 883 times as against an average of 333 times for the flesh eaters.
Strength was assessed by Dr. Schontenden, who tested students at the University of Brussels to compare strength of exclusively vegetarian individuals against that of predominantly meat eaters. Students were subjected to two physical tests: (1) squeezing f an “ergo-graph” with the right hand, and (2) weight lifting. The results revealed that the vegetarians achieved an average of 72 points with the ergo-graph; the meat eaters only 35 points. The strongest vegetarian reached a figure of 1467 points in weight lifting, while the strongest of the meat eaters achieved only 989 points. Rather surprisingly the vegetarians recovered much more quickly after the exertion, and therefore could repeat the experiment more readily than their opponents.

Murray Rose, an Australian and one of the world’s great athletes, is a flesh abstainer. His accomplishments include the following:
In 1958, at age 17, Murray won three gold medals at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, becoming the youngest triple gold medalist in the history of the games.
In 1958 and 1959 he established himself as the world’s greatest all-round swimmer of his time by winning in three totally different distances – in a sprint (200 meter relay); in the middle distance event (400 meters); and in the grueling, long-distance marathon (1500 meters).
He was the first swimmer in the world to the 18-minute barrier in the 1500 meter distance; and e set three world records in the 400 meter, 800 meter, and 1500 meter distances.
Murray ascribes his success in sports to his vegetarian diet. He does not eat meat, fish, or poultry – foods which, according to him, produce acids that cause fatigue. Nor does he drink coffee, tea, or alcoholic beverages. His diet includes cheese, eggs, goats milk, soybeans, nuts, sunflower seeds, millet, sesame products, unpolished rice, and homemade juices of apple, grape, pineapple, tomato, and carrot.

Re: If slaughterhouses had glass walls everyone would be vegetarian!
If you're like me (at least a bit), you like
a good burger now and then.

I love them too, but what I found out about them recently
is just disturbing, disgusting and downright angering.

Do you know that the burgers we buy from supermarkets
are basically health bombs?

Wait, I'm not talking from a "health foods expert" perspective,
but from a "I'd like to stay alive perspective".

Beef burgers, for example, don't only contain beef,
but it's made from a paste obtained by mixing
many types of meat and parts of an animal's body,
including the digestive tract, excretory system and
so on, which are packed with bacteria.

Bacteria that doesn't die if you only cook the burger,
but you should downright burn it.

But it gets "better". Inside beef there's poop. Consistent and
consecutive tests showed that, on average, 2/3
of all beef burgers contain e-coli,
which is a bacteria found in feces.

Of course, this bacteria shouldn't be in your stomach and
e-coli is on top of the list of bad things that might
make its way to your stomach.

Not to mention it's just very disgusting as well!

Burgers are also packed with antibiotics (fed to animals
to "stay healthy"), but also with salmonella,
enterococcus and other goodies, that
developed immunity to the antibiotics
put in them to kill them.

And all of that goes into our bellies.

So what can you do? Source your own food, grow it,
only buy it from someone you trust.

Better yet, eat less. Be prepared. They're poisoning us every second
and we have the power to stop it all by not buying
all that crap (quite literally) anymore.

and dont forget to buy burger mince unsubsidized would set you back around $80 a pound!
