RCMP arrests two people in connection to bomb plot

The RCMP has arrested two people in connection to a bomb plot, sources said.

The Mounties arrested one individual in the Toronto area and another one in the Montreal area on Monday.

A source said the alleged target of the plot was located in the Toronto area. An announcement will be made Monday afternoon at a news conference in Toronto.

Arrests made in Ontario, Quebec in alleged terror plot: CBC News

TORONTO, Cananda - CBC News is reporting that Canadian police and intelligence agencies have thwarted a plot to carry out a major terrorist attack.

Sources tell the network that a number of suspects were arrested this morning in Ontario and Quebec.

The report says the alleged plotters have been under surveillance for more than a year.

CBC News reports that the arrests by the RCMP and CSIS anti-terrorism units disrupted a major attack. Suspects were arrested in Ontario and Quebec on Monday.

The RCMP is expected to hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m.

The RCMP have arrested two people who they say were plotting a terrorist attack in Canada, CTV News has learned.

“I am told that the two people who have been arrested, they are linked somehow to al Qaeda,” Fife reported Monday afternoon.

Fife said it remains unclear how the two are connected to the international terror organization.

The two people arrested Monday are not linked with two men from London, Ont., who died in an alQaeda-linked siege on a gas plant in Algeria last January.

Fife said police had planned to make the arrests three weeks ago, but for unknown reasons they picked up the suspects on Monday.

I can't find anything in our Canadian news saying NYC was the target, just FOX is reporting that info on the story.

Anytime a terrorist bomb goes off in all likelihood there are more to follow somewhere. Best to round up the usual suspects ASAP.
