CISPA: Employees Set To Be Forced To Give Bosses Their Facebook PASSWORDS
-A last minute alteration to CISPA was defeated in a Congress vote
-It would have protected user's social media passwords from employers
-The late amendment was put forward by Democrat Ed Perlmutter

An attempt to ban US bosses from asking employees to hand over their Facebook login details has been blocked by Congress.

A last minute alteration to the controversial Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) that would have prevented employers demanding that prospective employees disclose social media passwords as a condition of employment was voted down in the house of representatives.

The proposal, put forward by Democrat Ed Perlmutter was defeated by a 224-189 majority, according to the Huffington Post.

Handing over passwords could legally be a condition of acquiring or keeping a job, said WebProNews.
Perlmutter said of his amendment before it was defeated: 'It helps the individual protect his right to privacy and it doesn't allow the employer to impersonate that particular employee when other people are interacting with that person across social media platforms.

The overall act would allow the US Government and private companies such as Facebook to share information with one another should they come under cyber attack.

So deactivate your account when you apply for a job, then turn off Public Searches and say you dont have an FB account. FUck them. Why not just give them access to your diary? lol

I would not give private passwords to my employeer. All they can do is fire me.

Beyond that though, there are some seriously stupid people in this world who post incriminating evidence against themselves on the world wide web and then only get upset when their employeer wants a password? News flash. If any law enforcement asks Facebook for access to your account, they won't need your little password to see every single keystroke you've ever made.

Truth, but sooooooo many people refuse to believe that this is what it's going to come to. I can't believe some of the stuff I see posted on social media, pictures included. But, people failing to care about what is going on around them is the reason we are in this state.

People need to open their eyes and stop caring only about Dancing With The Stars...

Plus many people use the same password on many things, whos to say that guy wont start hacking your other accounts, bosses go rouge all the time. some even install malware on the machines that handle your debit cards to steal that info.

I'm not saying it's right at all. Cops should have a warrant for any kind of search. I'm just pointing out reality. They can get a warrant, but even then, many internet providers and websites will give info without a warrant.

The reality is that if you are using a company computer, they own that computer and because they have to monitor it for all kinds of reasons vitually everything you type through it is probably shadowed. So, just because you enter a password doesn't mean what you type is private because it is on a machine you don't own and have no security control over. If yo uare viewing this page of GLP from work right now, your employer has a record of it and can call it up at will any time they want because that computer is their property.

Last time this came up, Zuckerburg said don't do it, that it was against the TOS. Since many people are addicted to Facebook, I suspect they will make sock puppet accounts for job applications, rather than stop using the site.

It would serve these peeping Toms right, to demand passwords and then get access to useless accounts.
