Quoting: jedre Why not ask for our online banking user info as well? Check out what you spend your money on every month. See how financially secure you are. Or your personal email account info, which is really not that much different than your facebook account, especially considering once you are logged into the account you can view all the private messages that you have sent/received. Is this going to be required for job applications? Put in your name address social security facebook password. I mean get the hell out of here this is insane. If this happens we are doomed, and any other personal privacy from at least entities other than the government is gone. Slippery slope if I've ever heard of one. There would be mass strikes across the country in ALL companies. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24547360 Isn't that a no-brainer? And take it one step further, I would never be able to work for a company that thought it was okay to ask for it. How could you take them seriously, and how could you take your coworkers seriously knowing that they went along with it? I barely have an account, it's just to follow a couple of bands and one out of town friend, I could easily live without it but it's the principle of the thing! |

So, how can they tell you have an account? Well they will be suspicious of you if you don't ,after all everyone has one so if you don't maybe you got something to hide? So maybe you will be fired and not hired to begin with and ostracized. Facebook may become something bigger than we imagined in the Brave New World dystopic future. Banned as usual. “It is far easier to be a weakling than to be a Real Man. Were the Earth less harsh or the circumstances of life less austere, man would destroy himself before the shrine of the languid goddess. Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.” |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 38295757 United States 04/23/2013 12:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Many companies already want to know your page. If you don't have one, they WILL look at you weird if you're under 30. Solution: Make a facebook, but never use it. Or better yet, make a Linkedin account which actually is made for business connections, and could lead to better jobs. |

So, how can they tell you have an account? A lot of companies demand that you submit your resume through facebook. Not having a facebool would be like not having a phone. I have a job which is very secure, so that's not a worry. And I am a ways over 30, so I don't think people will believe it's weird that I don't have an account. If necessary to do so, people could open up an account and just put the very minimum on there and never use it. They may be able to force you to have an account, but they can't make you use it. |

Maybe they will just make some new agency that keeps track of your accounts. Just to make this "easier" on employers. That way they just say we hired so and so, the govt just sends over a list of everything they are allowed to have access to. Every account associated with your home IP address or something like that. Anonymous Coward User ID: 34488577 United States 04/23/2013 12:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't like social media, thus I don't have one. I DO have a linked-in though, but I barely use it. Not because I'm trying to hide anything, but because I literally can't get into the mindset of updating social media (linked-in) all the time. Social media to me, is the exact opposite of being...SOCIAL. Technology like FB has trained our generation that if you want to talk to someone in THE SAME ROOM, just say it over txt or facebook, and that is disgusting. I still believe in talking face-to-face, sort of an HONOR thing as well as a body-language thing. People also forget that FB is a COMPANY. And every company has its price. If FB is not using profiles for evil, I'm sure the company that eventually buys their servers will. And I bet FB and Trapwire are linked pretty well. But besides that, it's just stupid. Stupid and lazy. And I'm a pretty lazy person. |

It apparently makes you less desirable. You won't slave away for the system because your loyalties are divided. Thinking back on it, I think I lost at least one job opportunity by mentioning I had kids. I could see a shift in the interviewer (childless woman) when I mentioned it. I googled her after not getting the job and got info on her ... Guess that was a lost opportunity, but I'm not crying. |
