No, listen, if the bullet even touched his cervical spinal cord, he would have been paralyzed and unable to get vertical, let alone climb out of the boat. He simply didn't get the gun straightened out in his mouth before he pulled the trigger, and the bullet came out the back left side of his neck instead. Because of this information, I'm certain he was right handed, thus the bullet going somewhat from his right to his left out the back of the side of his neck. Much "non-life" ending damage can be done to one's face/head/etc if a person doesn't aim the bullet to the right targeted structure, such as the spinal column or low to mid brain.
