I thought this thread was going to be about something else. "Put your hands on it."...

There's a large number of people who physically hold their own precious metals (PMs), but many others are just buying gold stock, or paper, or in some kind of digital form. They assume that the company "holding" PMs for them will be around to hand them their gold/silver when the time comes. I think that's a poor decision. What's worse, they don't know if the PMs the company says it is holding for you really even exists.

Imagine what would happen if all the people that weren't physically holding on to their gold or silver called up their portion from these companies and banks...especially since most of that gold/silver doesn't exist.

How do I know a lot of these receipts for PMs are worthless and not backed by anything? Think about it....actually, I don't think I need to explain. Should be obvious.

It is said that the paper gold holders are selling paper in an attempt to purchase physical gold as they start to realize that the paper markets are only a scam...

The very smallest retail products are
scarce here.
1/10 oz gold and some 1 oz gold.
But gold in general, like 10 oz bars
can be bought in any amount.

APMEX is basically sold out of all silver bars in every that is under $28 oz, until at least May 1st, and May 1st deliveries are going fast too.

According to places I checked where I could 'cash and carry'. I was told no one was selling and that was the reason for shortages.

Imagine if there was a market for paper ammunition....

Paper bullets for $0.15 a round.

Physical bullets for $1.50 each.

Comex expiry tomorrow expect a flash crash in the metals or a commodities house like MF Global will fail. Take your pick.

If they are unable to hammer the metals look for a default and confiscation of owner accounts at some large commodities trading house.
