The Electrical "Volcanoes" of Jupiter's Moon Io

The so-called "volcanoes" on Jupiter's moon Io have long been conventionally interpreted as the effect of tidal forces acting on the moon. But a recent scientific paper has announced that this longstanding explanation does not fit with the actual location of the plumes. Is it possible that this failure of theory could cause planetary scientists to reconsider the electrical explanation first offered by astrophysicist Thomas Gold and later by plasma scientists Anthony Peratt and Alex Dessler?

If the Moon is off, if Earth wobbles or if there is a pole shift
how can things like this, predicted decades ago, happen?

Please explain, where the researchers state, that the tidal forces are not the cause of Ios vulcanism but electrical forces.

To the contrary:
"Distance-based clustering results support a dominant role for asthenospheric** heating within Io, but show a 30–60° eastward offset in volcano concentrations from predicted locations of maximum surface heat flux along the tidal axis.
This offset may imply faster than synchronous rotation, a role for lateral advection of magma within Io's interior prior to its eruption, state of stress controls on the locations of magma ascent, and/or a missing component in existing tidal dissipation models, such as the effects of fluid tides generated within a globally extensive layer of interconnected partial melt."

** The asthenosphere is the highly viscous, mechanically weak and ductilely-deforming region below the outermost shell of a planet or moon.
