China would be very hard pressed to take harsh measures against the Philippines. Yep, it's pretty iron clad and has been used by us to force them to help in the war on terror recently even tho it was unpopular with their people. If we go back on it then in the eyes of all other allies our word to defend them is worthless. |

There are some differences yet the outcome the same: Native peoples disappear. Even if it is assimilation, the thought never sits well. |

If Philippines pay well pentagon may do a drill or two with them, but sending Americans on American's tax dollar to fight our biggest trade partner for the philippinos? LOL Do you really think China sees the US as a trade partner? |

I am starting to think China will screen their population for the virus and ship off those not infected to places farthest away and give them a chance of survival someplace isolated. Just something that clicked in my mind as I was reading the forum today. I am not usually big on conspiracy theories at all. Expect rhetoric, but unless this is some kind of ploy to draw in other parties to the region, it will go nowhere. Mad love for the Philippines, but they probably do not want to get mixed up in the Senkaku/Diayou issue. There is a good chance this mistake would cost them a lot in regional economic support. |

The US will highlight the fact that a first world country and a military power like China bullied a helpless country like the Philippines. War would also mean good economy for the US since China's economy will definitely take a hit, in this aspect China has more to lose in regards to their growing economy versus the US's failing economy. China will not go to war against the Philippines. Not yet anyway. They will keep on bullying my country but they will not engage us in an all out war, doing that would make them the ultimate bad guy in the international community. China can easily beat us by sending missiles to Manila and the whole country will readily fall. But doing that will give US the reason to defend Manila and engage China. China knows that the US can still hurt them militarily hence they will not act blindly on this issue. Too much is at stake for China in this issue, this is not something they will act on by using an all out war against Philippines. |

The US bases in our country wasn't paying their due rent like how they are now paying Japan. The military hardware and technology wasn't also shared to their Philippine military "ally." As a third world "sovereign" country, you can't blame us to at least have a semblance of independence as a matter of national pride and dignity. There have also been some abuse from the US military bases where locals have been on the receiving end and our country can't do anything about it, we can't even bring your soldiers to court, that was one of the reasons why we had to remove your base in our country. The US military is still present in the Philippines, there have been numerous ship and submarine visits in our country every year. Just this year, one of your ship actually got stuck in one of our world heritage site and you had to pay us for the damages and salvage your ship piece by piece. Some of your soldiers are still in Mindanao, the southern part of Philippines. The CIA still has an office in Manila, just like your FBI. Though without a formal base, the US presence in our country is still and will always be here. |

Same as the Island of Palau back in 1994/1995. I was on hand during both celebrations. I suppose the timing was just terrible as the pullout (Angeles City) came at the same time Mt. Pinatubo blew it's top. That certainly moved the process along quickly. And yes, I am fully aware of the US Military presence there. Just nothing like the 'ole days. |

San Juan, Jr., alleges that 1.4 million Filipinos died during the war and that constitutes an act of genocide on the part of the United States.[88] |
