Yeah but be a citizen and you have to jump through hoops only to be denied. Then you have to wait months for a fair hearing and then maybe you'll be determined eligible because one of the things they do down at the D.S.S. office is to try to make people give up by having them run around and all kinds of crap.

What part of illegal don't they get? Why should America's tax paying citizens have to pay for food and benefits for illegals and people who have never invested anything in this country.

I honestly don't want to see anyone go hungry so my idea is to give them a meal and a take away and then deport them. Let them go through the trouble of entering the country legally.

So then they would have to tell the caseworker they don't have documents because they are illegal. Then I guess the caseworker is supposed to turn a blind eye even though she knows the law is being broken.

Welfare, in any form, is a veneer.
Less than ten cents on the dollar goes where it is supposed to go. The rest literally vanishes. It is laundered internationally.
US government has no internal controls.
US government has no functioning system of accountability.
Feds or state contract out to private companies to do this work for them.(i.e. Blackwater)
They give these "providers" a blank check.
I have personally gone to the NY Inspector General and also the head of Medicaid fraud in NY and given them copies of the books.
I was ignored.
Bottom line: Welfare is a real money maker for organized crime and it endangers our society.

Many "members" , i.e. accounts, are non-existant. Money goes into these accounts only to vanish. I have access to the books.

There are more people in welfare in NY than actually exist.
The money that flows into these programs flows quietly back out to foreign shores. This is why we don't see the fraud.
In this case, the "excess funds" are flowing down to Mexico.
The fraud is being perpetrated by the U.S. government.

I worked for DFS in Missouri and illegals do not qualify for food stamps. They can get food stamps with a green card.

Anchor babies do get food stamps though

The USDA is one of the biggest bureaucratic agencies in our nation. They hold more wealth than any other abc group.

No, it's the other way around, you have to be working, unless you are a child. In Washington here if you're working less than 20 hours a week you have to attend a work readiness program and put in the hours that way.

They base your eligibility on how high your housing cost is compared to your income.

Believe me in the last 30 years the rent keeps going up and the inflation-corrected wages keep going down.

When I made the decision at age 49 to apply for food stamps to get my own money back that they were taking in FICA taxes from my measly checks, it was because I was seeing signs in Spanish everywhere saying how they didn't take immigration status into account for food stamps. It really pissed me off that they would give them to illegals.

In Washington you have a Federal portion of the food stamp money and a State portion. Immigration status counts for the Federal portion but not for the Washington state portion. Also children of illegal immigrants are eligible if they were born in the US.

Someone mentioned the expedited application for farm workers. One thing to remember is that there is a legal program for migrant seasonal farm workers. Many come in legally under a permit system. Also only 12% of illegal aliens work in agriculture.

In many ways the food stamp system is a subsidy for employers. They can pay their workers less knowing they won't go hungry.

Actually the food stamp system is a subsidy for the entire economy. If you are on them it means that your income only covers rent, bills and food. Having food stamps means that you have some small amount left to spend on things other than food, shelter and utilities. Without food stamps every other aspect of the economy would be affected. Many working people would have nothing left over to spend anywhere but at the grocery store.

And obviously the grocery stores and food industry up the chain are the biggest beneficiaries of all of the food stamp program. Many workers would find themselves out of a job overnight if the food stamp program was cut off.

Every dollar paid in wages in the USA is taxed at 15% through FICA taxes (Social Security and Medicare). You don't see it because your employer "contributes" half, but of course that half is still a tax on your wages and wouldn't be paid if you weren't the one working and earning the money. So if you are making 10.00 an hour then 1.50 is being paid out for every 10.00 of your gross wage.

When you are making 10.00 an hour and paying rent and bills, 15% of your money is ALL your money - everything that you would have had left for shoes, clothes, a haircut, vitamins, everything.

They know that and they know they can't get away with taxing the working poor that way. So they make you grovel and jump through hoops and take the social stigma to GET YOUR OWN MONEY BACK so you can EAT.

Food stamps for anyone living in housing should be:

25 lb of flour
10 lb of sugar
20 lob of dried beans
20 lb of rice
4 lb of butter
5 lb of cheese

etc.

States should buy in bulk from the manufacturer and cut the retailer out and no one has to go hungry. A distribution center in every county.

Kind of like what they gave the Indians on the reservations. Would you like a side of diabetes with your fry bread?

When my mother in law got cancer it asked if you were illegal and if you checked the yes box you were able to skip the finacial questions. This was in PA. I asked the caseworker and her response was it ade it easier to get emergency assistsnce because they could not declare any moneymade illegally in the states

They do if their income is not reported, or reported on a social aquired through fraud.
