There was a thread here on GLP right after his capture that had a video or picture, I can't remember which, which showed Tsarnaev on the ground with a guy attending to him. The guy had an ATF Police jacket on. The caption of the photo said that Tsarnaev was being fitted for an oxygen mask, but it looked to me like he was being given a tracheotomy. I replied in that post that this is what it looked like to me. This was before it came out that he had lost his voice box.

I have to believe that what was posted was the ATF guy cutting his voicebox out of him.

It surely looks A LOT like him, but we never know. IMO, they killed him in Watertown and probably blew his head up, so that a skull/face partial reconstruction was made to keep the hoax, but they used someone else's tissue, ears, etc.
