Edit: Well, I checked them out. The second one I had trouble loading the page....because of the embedded videos...but I like what you're doing here better, anyway. So do you have some neat equipment to do all this?
 Quoting: U3

No, just good software =) Btw, I almost missed that question because it was an edit instead of a new post.
 Quoting: Sonic

Yes, I'm bad about editing, esp. if you haven't posted, I'll edit for sure, lol!

Well, you are spoiling me! You're a magician with that software.

One evening, I spent a few hours looking at things like this and other illusions.....and that night, it really affected my dreamtime....they were more vivid.

I guess I should do it some more but I ended up with a headache the next day, lol!

Btw, I soft-focus. Haven't tried leaning back.

I have about 150 Stereograms on my Hard Drive. I never finished looking at all of them. I got pretty good tho, to the point of seeing 3-4 other versions of the image that you can see if you focus at other specific distances. Sort of "dismembered" versions tho.

An example of a cool variation is the reverse where the image looks "sunk in" instead of popping out, when you focus somewhere in front of the screen instead of focusing behind the screen.

How about a link?

 Quoting: U3

Tried to find one for you, but mine are much older than the ones online. I'll have to set up a couple of photos later.

All apologies.
 Quoting: pool

Oh, would love to see photos of them. So you have quite a collection? (and thanks for trying to find a link)
 Quoting: U3

Here we go love, have a few of these from a museum deaccession, Frits Philips. My collection is only of 100 total varying delft majority in 17th century, compared to many collections ranging into the thousands. Most of mine are European as I haven't explored asian, modern american nor moorish.

[link to antiquetiles.blogspot.com]

The comments are accurate in that the older tiles "feel".

hugs thanks for asking.

And those negative space illustrations are fun too. I can see both at the same time..or go from one to another.

I can see how you fell in love with these. They make me want to hold them and that's just from looking at pictures of them.

Do you display your collection in some way? I would have to do something with them if they were mine.

By any chance, do you happen to know why they stylized the lion like that? I've noticed this style on all kinds of things but never looked into it.

Thanks for finding a link and sharing your passion. hf

My collection is wrapped and stored for my offspring to discover when I pass away. I think they would be delighted to find out they have a world to discover in place of sorrow.

The story behind the imagery is consistent with the coin. In the past these images were used on everything. It defined their era of rule and style. It was the same in architecture. In the study of art history, periods encompass all elements of art; music was drawn into frieze images and fabrics were paintings of symbolism.

Maybe the story of the fleur de lis

and the lion combined will offer a guess.

Re: Let's start an ART thread!
Great art on this thread, I enjoy coming back and seeing what's been posted every day, thanks for starting the thread, OP. hf

Here's one by Albert Bierstadt, part of the Hudson River School of painters. I had a poster of this as a teenager, used to look at it for hours, a lot of detail in this one.

mtrosalie:
 Quoting: Junkyard Lily

Oh, I like this. I can see it would be one to stare at a lot.
 Quoting: U3

Here's a SUPER HIGH definition of that painting if you wanna look at all the details. The colors are completely different for some reason tho.

[link to upload.wikimedia.org]
 Quoting: Sonic

OMG, it's awesome. I see there's a story in the foreground. There's a hunting party. For some reason, an indian shot a deer and killed it but his saddle fell off and him with it. It knocked him out (although he's really flat so it might just be blankets but it sure looks like a body and mocassin) and his horse ran away, with the other indians in the hunting party and the dog, giving chase. Plus another horse without a rider but with a saddle.

There are also teepees by a river, with 3 indians on horses, in the river, letting the horses drink.

But, for me, it's the grandeur of the sky and mountains...and esp. in the background, that small cove of light that really catches my attention.

Edit: I only saw 6 birds!!! Maybe an eagle, up high and then 5 flying away towards woods.1dunno1
 Quoting: U3

Glad you guys enjoyed! Yes, so many little details that do tell a story, one of my favorite things about that painting. One of the other things in this painting is a waterfall very far off in the distance, coming from a lake. It's not so easy to see in the darker version, but it's there. It's coming from a lake that's up in the cliffs, and if you follow that back and up, way up in the clouds is the crest of a huge mountain--just hard to see because the clouds are in front of it. hf

I am in love with that blue color you got in the lower left-hand corner, very nice compliment to the other colors and scheme of the painting. hf

It all started going downhill when that alcoholic bastard, Pollack, started flinging paint around in random, drunken spurts, and that talentless autistic scumbag, Picasso, was conning the world with his shit!

How could their crap possibly compare to a Turner, or Manet, or Monet?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 38885653

I was never a huge fan of Picasso. Maybe I just don't "get it". I like art that requires talent, skill, and precision.
 Quoting: love/light
Picasso was a renaissance trained and very talented artists. He just chose to paint in a totally new style.
