Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
OK so let’s show people why Christians are deceitful and wrong on homosexuality.

Let’s get rid of the stupid choice argument first.

If homosexuals choose to be homosexuals then you must have chosen to be heterosexual. I knew I was heterosexual from the first time I was attracted to females. I was never attracted to males! But you can’t use that argument because deep down you believe homosexuality is a choice.

So, seeing you hold the choice argument true - Please describe in detail what you did to choose to be heterosexual? Did you test drive someone of your own gender? Do you still have these feelings but suppress them to be heterosexual? Have you told your wife?

So lesson 1 is heterosexuals and homosexuals don’t choose their sexuality. And if they don’t choose it - it is natural! The only people who may have a choice are bi-sexual people.

Now let’s get onto the oppression that Christians use against homosexuals.

Whilst thinking let me remind you of a couple of relevant quotes from Jesus for you to keep in the back of your minds, if your minds are up to that much pressure. 1rof1

Matthew 20:16 So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.

I put this first because you should beware… Your arguments here might just be the straw that puts you into the fiery lakes that you are all so keen to threaten on others.

So in your criticisms of homosexuality you are breaking two key foundational teachings of Jesus

Matthew 7:1-5 "Judge not, that ye be not judged....."

John 8:7 "…let he who has not sinned cast the first stone…."

Delude yourselves if you wish, BUT, you are breaking these two explicit instructions. That is of course, unless you are perfect, and haven’t sinned.

No I didn't think so!

So have any of you not sinned? Can you say in your heart of hearts you never judged?

Haven’t you just failed Christianity 101?

Now to the bits in the Bible that people quote at homosexuals, and why you should be very careful.

I know Moses was a mass murderer who practiced all manner of evils against others, justifying it as “from GOD”, but GOD doesn't condone infanticide, mass murder, war crimes, rape, slavery and other atrocities does he?

Be careful of your answer here. If you believe Moses was following GOD's instructions then you are calling GOD a mass murderering, scumbag.

Now to Moses' rubbish laws on this subject.

Leviticus 18:22: "You shall not lie with a male as those who lie with a female; it is an abomination."

Leviticus 20:13: "If a man lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination and they shall surely be put to death."

These might be fine if it wasn't for the other crazy laws of MOSES. Like this one

Deuteronomy 22:20-21 2 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:

Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Stoning a woman who doesn't bleed on her wedding night? Come on now, this is crazy. This means GOD knows nothing about the woman's body, he designed. A woman's hymen can break for many reasons, other than sex. Is GOD this dumb?

Do you really believe GOD is this unintelligent!

Are you accepting he designs a woman and doesn't understand the physiology? Are you believers this dumb?

But also if you choose to believe and oppress homosexuals because of these passages why aren't you checking female's bed sheets and punishing them still? Why aren't you keeping slaves, killing witches etc.?

These things are too stupid for a loving GOD to accept...

I could list many other rules by Moses that couldn’t have come from GOD, but these is enough for now.

Now people also quote JESUS where he says

Matthew 15:18-19 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Done any of these?

Come on even the best of us have done this

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Anyone here still not sinned? 1rof1

For you to start ranting on homosexuality… you are judging. WARNING! Do not judge.

For you to waffle on about their sin you are pretending to be without sin. How can you be so hypocritical? How dare you cast the first stone?

BUT here is the verse that your hatred of homosexuality and the oppression of these people really destroys.

John 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another"

Why can’t you be honest?… You hate homosexuals!... Don't you? If you believe homosexuality is a sin, you look at their sin as worse than your own. Don't you?

Honesty is still a Christian trait isn’t it?

1rof1

So many Christians hate homosexuals, that's a fact. I have met so many of them. Most of them are incapable of articulating their reasons.

Amazed, do you know the bad thing about quoting the Bible? One can find anything to justify one's point of view. Earlier I responded to a poster with the first Leviticus quote. If this subject were only handled in the OT, it would have been easier (for certain reasons) to say it was outmoded. Kind of like the rest of Leviticus which says we are not to eat shellfish, nor meat that hasn't been slaughtered in a certain way. You know, Old Jewish customs.

There are also NT verses. Jesus himself didn't comment on homosexuality as far as I know. In fact he advocated loving people as you want to be loved. But Paul... Yes, Paul was clear. There is an argument though that Paul having been a Pharisee, still thought in terms of Mosaic Law. If true, this would mean that he was still speaking in context of Jewish Customs.

I can see you know your Bible. I think the Church must deal with this issue decisively from a doctrinal point of view. For example, Paul also told women to cover their heads and sit separately from men. Christians don't. At least none that I know of. The Church is at the forefront of the anti-gay movement. Yes, it's the lower order churches mostly but in Africa, the High Order Churches have completely refused to allow not only gay clergy (which I think is their right) but have also now stepped into gay rights in the State. Seeing as many people in Africa are Christians, the Church's position is of paramount importance. For those who don't believe, I guess it may be easier to come to a decision.

So if Christians are deceitful on the issue of homosexuality, is Christian Doctrine also being deceitful?
 Quoting: Nefertiti

Congratulations OP... Finally someone has admitted the truth... Many Christians hate homosexuals.

BUT what makes it worse is that they lie to themselves on the topic. They deny that hatred and yet it is obvious.

Churches actually don't have a problem with homosexuality... they have made it a problem. They just need to have someone to oppress.

Most churches and believers oppressed women for centuries, but, once they woke up on that, they kept oppressing homosexuals.

Can one be any more cowardly than to oppress a minority group and to oppress someone who is different?

Could there have been homosexuals listening to Jesus' sermon on the mount? Did he oppress them?

Believers who hate homosexuals or oppress them are failing Christ. It is that simple!

Now on your last question... YES! Christian doctrine is deceitful. It relies too heavily on Moses' and Paul's demonstrably wrong teachings.

Thankfully, Christianity doesn't follow the false doctrines of men as much these days. Most don't follow Paul's teachings on women. Most don't follow the false teachings of Moses.

However, they just can't leave homosexuals alone. They have to continually snipe at them, breaking their own doctrine.

The Bible is a flawed document that often undermines the love and omniscience of GOD.

Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
What I want to know is how so many straight people seem to know who we Gays really are. Funny most don't know they know many of us. They just make their judgements on some of us and seem to imagine we are all alike. Straight people have done this for such a long time.

We gays are just as different as straight people. We may have Gayness in common but that doesn't make us all alike. You seem to forget we all have been raised in straight families usually. Only in recent times Gays can be raised in a Gay family.

There are so many assumptions coming from the straight people. I laugh because iI don't appear to be Gay so I get to hear all the silly stuff straight people say about me as a Gay person.

They even harp on what we all do sexually. How do they know what we do we all are different. We don't all do all the Gay sexual possibilities.

I won't get graphic but I want to know how these straight people know so so much about what we actually do and who we are.

Many have a token few Gays they know or know of.

The others just know of Gays or see them in videos or on TV or in porn.

Now you can see a few on the news because they came out as Gay.

As far as your religions maybe we shouldn't be forced to live by your religions. This is the Land of the FREE isn't it?

Mostly all we want is Equality. We are human just like you. We have long been treated like we are subhuman sick evil sinners. I don't care what you narrow minded people think.

People in general are waking up and seeing how crazy this has all been. They put themselves in our shoes and think it just stinks. What has been done to all us Gay for countless years is beyond rotten.

We had to put up with being called mentally sick, We had to be called pedophiles. Oh many of you tried to beat and kill us just for being who we are. The whole time talking about freedom and Equality in the Land of the Free.

How you can look yourselves in the mirror and think you are Christian is really beyond me.

You are simply haters.

Christians discriminate against homosexuals because they need someone to oppress.

They don't know their BIBLES well enough to know that it is totally wrong to oppress anyone.

They love throwing the guilt trip on homosexuals because it makes them feel superior.

They pick and choose anything that suits their bigotry.

Sad but true!

Sorry OP ... Did you say you believe in the Bible?

Really? I thought you were supposed to believe in GOD?

Then you quote Paul, when it suits you...

What about oppressing women again, then?

Paul orders it!

Hi Amazing,

I took sometime out to read the thread you posted. Very, very interesting. Will read it all later.

I responded to your earlier post and mentioned the question of Paul's point of view. Here's the thing though. Church doctrine must resolve this issue once and for all as it has resolved others. Christians and other religious people are well known for not studying their holy books. They seek interpretations and explanations from the clergy. As long as this is the case, Christians will continue to be torn over this issue, as well as many others.

As a Christian, I'm frustrated by this because of how my brothers and sisters are dealing with it. Many of them actually feel justified in their hatred. They will not come out and say they "hate" gays but they will say hateful and spiteful things about them. I guess I started this topic to find out what exactly Christians think they are doing. Some can't articulate their reasons, while others however hateful are pretty good at breaking down the whys of the matter.

What do I see? I see a failure of the Church to deal with this definitively. I can see that gay rights are inevitable. There is no doubt that legally, gays will be able to marry, adopt children, procreate in their own way (sperm donors) and that sooner than later, a gay family will be considered a type of normal family.

When this happens, when the laws change the world over, how will gay people live? If they believe in God and Jesus, will they not start their own churches? Will they still not suffer discrimination? How will those who are anti- gay live comfortably in a society that seems immoral to them? Their children will be exposed to a lifestyle they don't agree with. Look at most of the tv series running currently. There are gay scenes all over the place.

To question the Bible is a good thing for a Christian. It leads one to search for the answer. The Bible is full of contradictions if taken literally. That is why anyone can find a scripture or two to justify their position. For non-Christians, what happens may not affect them too much. For Christians, the homosexual question is turning out to be a biggie. It is bigger than the abolition of slavery and womens' rights. I don't want to sound alarmist, but this is akin to Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation.

Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
Well I am proud that we Gays may actually make people really think about religions and what they can do to people.

People can see it pretty clearly now. The religious people are just showing others who may not buy into religion what people are really like that are religious. I personally think that is a great thing.

It is about time people really see the truth. I saw it when I was very young. I knew how they smile and stab others in the back while claiming to be religious.

I am not saying all are like this but many use religion as a way to beat others down. Long before we Gays started coming out the family was breaking up because people were no longer staying together and the numbers continue to grow.

So I laugh when the religious ones try and blame us Gays for this. They still try and pin anything and everything on the Gays. The just can't help themselves. God told them this would happen is their continuing story.

Their God has a hotline to them apparently. He tells them who to point the finger at. They just always pick minorities and that is simply odd. I guess they look for the weak and try to stomp on them.

I recall them saying black people were animals beasts. So I am not shocked about all the things they throw at us Gays.

These Godly ones are very nasty and bitter. They say they want to save us from the fire. I say they are the fire.

My whole point in asking that was just to illustrate that man is who defines what is sin, it's not God that does it. How can we really know what God thinks? How do we know what we are being told is true?
 Quoting: ajk

See that's a whole other topic. Are you a Christian?

Don't answer if you don't want to. The basic premise of being a Christian is, as you know, accepting Jesus came to save you. It also means believing that the Bible is the holy inspired Word of God. As I said earlier, if one doesn't believe this about the Bible, then using Christian doctrine in the argument over gay rights is irrelevant.
 Quoting: Nefertiti

I used to be.....but I renounced that belief a couple years ago when I realized how nonsensical a lot of it really is, something I am seeing from your posts here as this is going forward that you may be beginning to realize as well.
No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds.

Always remember, ultimately, to never follow any person's belief. Your relationship with God is between you and God.

If nothing else, remember this: religion = subservience, control and conformity, the same template as EVERY government

"Most believers would kill truth if truth threatened their religion." L. K. Washburn

"This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves." Robert Ingersoll

Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
Anal Sex: A Dangerous Trend

Anal sex has historically been taboo in many cultures. However, numerous studies show that the practice of anal sex is on the rise. Why has there been a rise in this risky alternate sexual practice? We live in a sexualized culture which teaches that sexual experimentation is one of the best ways to achieve sexual satisfaction. Dr. Debby Herbenick argues in her book, Good in Bed Guide to Anal Pleasuring, that anal sex “is a way to explore and act out new fantasies with [your] lover.”[1] However, this common justification of anal sex is faulty and superficial because it is very damaging to your health and quite possibly life threatening.

Let’s check out a few of the major risks:

General health risks:

Unlike the vagina, the tissues of the anus are not stretchy. This means that the anus can easily tear, which puts the receiving partner in danger of anal abscesses, hemorrhoids, or fissures (a very large tear).
Anal sex can weaken your muscles down there, which makes it hard to hold feces.
The anus is full of bacteria. Consequently, the giving partner is especially prone to infections.
Pregnancy:

You cannot get pregnant from the act alone. However, semen could still leak into the vagina and impregnate the woman.
STDs:

The fragile nature of the anal tissue makes it easier for STDs to enter into the bloodstream.
Unprotected anal sex is one of the primary ways in which HIV is spread. If you don’t already know, HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) can eventually lead to AIDS!
Recent studies have linked anal sex to anal cancer. HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is closely associated with anal cancer, which is frequently spread through anal sex.
The use of a latex condom certainly lowers the chances of contracting an STD. However, even perfect condom use does not completely eliminate the risk of STDs. In fact, the condom is more susceptible to leakage, breakage, and slippage during anal intercourse.
Anal sex is clearly a dangerous form of sexual activity. It may be tempting to engage in anal sex with the notion that it does not affect one’s virginal status in the traditional meaning of the term virgin (ie someone who has not had penile-vaginal intercourse); however, ANAL SEX IS SEX. Therefore, you still face all of the detrimental emotional and health consequences of having sex outside of a lifelong, monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner.

Christians discriminate against homosexuals because they need someone to oppress.

They don't know their BIBLES well enough to know that it is totally wrong to oppress anyone.

They love throwing the guilt trip on homosexuals because it makes them feel superior.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1254761

Thanks for posting. This brings me to another aspect of all this.

I don't think many people actually know what gay people are made to endure. Remember that young man who was beaten and then dragged behind a truck in Wyoming? Martin who was a 17 year old college student? I lived and studied in the US at the time and I couldn't believe what I saw. I couldn't even watch his parents talking without bursting out in tears. It was cruel, cruel, cruel.

Christians have a duty to ensure that such hate crimes do not happen. If not Christians, then who? If not those that believe in Jesus... He who endured terrible torture as well as crucifixion, who then will stand up for gays in today's society? While we may not be personally responsible for causing harm to gay people, those of us who are hateful contribute to the general psyche. (And enough of saying Christians don't hate gays. Maybe you don't, but plenty of them do.)

If my 6 year old son were to discriminate against someone, I would feel responsible. If I believe in my heart that gay people deserve to go to hell, my 6 year old may grow up to believe it too. God forbid that my son ambushes somebody else's child and kills him. God forbid that my daughter should bully a girl who comes from a same sex home and cause untold psychological trauma. I personally will be careful that I do not sow seeds of hatred into my children. That's the only way I'lll be able to look myself in the mirror and see the reflection of a Christian.

Hey OP, why are you acting like christians are the only ones who dislike homosexuality. It seems almost like you want this thread to be about christianity, not homosexuality. Are christians the only group left on earth who collectively have a problem with homos? Probably not.

Oh btw, look up the average lifespan of a homo, versus the average lifespan of a hetero, there's a reason for the marked difference. Apparently homosexuality is a high-risk lifestyle.

Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
It is said that God's favorite people in the Bible were King David and King Solomon. I heard that when I was a child. I have always been fascinated by David. He truly loved and trusted God. He was also blessed tremendously all the days of his life.

Wasn't David a sinner? Isn't it he who committed adultery with Bathsheba and then went on to plot and commit the murder of her husband, Uriah? Yes, that was King David. I was told that God punished him. We were all told that the death of their first born son was a punishment for David's transgressions.

When I was 15, I got confirmed as is the usual case. We had to take lessons for a few weeks in preparation. I asked my teacher why God killed an innocent child. The baby had nothing to do with the sin of his parents. I was told the same thing. It was a punishment. Well, this didn't sit very well with me and I insisted it didn't make sense. I argued that God doesn't believe in abortion or infanticide. Instead of trying to help me find an answer, the teacher was upset and politely told me drop it. I went ahead with my confirmation. But I knew something wasn't right.

Years later, quite by accident, I met a relative. She is one of the kindest and purest souls I know. At that point, I had literally rejected Christianity. I still loved God but didn't believe in the Christian God. I had become so used to defending this new found belief and winning by simply asking that very question again. Most people failed to explain. I was shocked when she agreed with me saying that the death of the child was not a punishment. God did indeed punish David with a curse. But that child couldn't be allowed to survive because of the manner in which he was conceived. He was conceived through adultery. David had given Satan an opportunity to contaminate the line of David from which Jesus would eventually be born. OMG!!!! What??

When I checked the scriptures, I found that indeed David had been cursed as a punishment. But Samuel the prophet had also said something interesting. He accused David of giving the enemies of the Lord a means of blaspheming Him, the child would die.

2 Samuel 12:11-14
King James Version (KJV)
11 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

The punishment was that David's wives would be unfaithful to him. God would spare his life because he had repented. Verse 14 is the answer to the question that took years and years find.

What's my point? People sin and God forgives, obviously. But more importantly, sometimes we read the Bible and fail to understand what is being said. Many times, our own pastors are as clueless as we are. It is up to each individual to question what seems wrong without fear. Is it wrong to question the Church's stance on homosexuality? Is it wrong to question the scriptures on homosexuality? Is it unchristian to believe that God couldn't possibly be who He is and still have such a harsh and cruel take on humans he obviously created according to his plan? There has to be an explanation.

A number of posters have accused me of being gay, not being a Christian just because I don't agree with the Church's inaction. Sounds like the Pharisees who kept telling Jesus that he was a blasphemer. That he broke the Sabbath Law when he healed the sick. That he was unclean for hanging around harlots and tax collectors. How hypocritical. How shallow and how insulting. Get out of your slumber and search for the truth. Just because you claim you are Christians, and you go to church every Sunday, and you can quote scripture by the book, doesn't make you Christians. It makes you robot-like, bigots, haters, susceptible to being led astray.

Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
Iowa

1rof1
 Quoting: Amazed Continually! 1190661

I used to be.....but I renounced that belief a couple years ago when I realized how nonsensical a lot of it really is, something I am seeing from your posts here as this is going forward that you may be beginning to realize as well.

Ajk,

I'm sorry to hear that you renounced Christianity. When I was in my early teens, my church performed a drama. It was about judgement day and what happens. In one of the scenes, a former Christian is being judged. When asked why she left the Church, she complained about hypocrites. She said Church was full of hypocrites and she just couldn't stand it. When asked why she stopped believing in God, she said again, hypocrites. Since she didn't want to be associated with so many hypocrites, she decided she wouldn't believe in what they believed. Well, she was sent to Hell. At Hell's Gate, the Devil met her. In his welcome speech, he boasted about how he looooved hypocrites. It is the damn hypocrites that keep converting more and more Christians to the Devil's side.

Haha...just remembered that. I think I decided at the time that nothing would stop me from believing. Because of that, I am now able to discern what is nonsensical, research that which I do not understand and gain knowledge. In my quest, I've discovered many things about the Church that are pure fiction and hypocritical. Even about texts in the Bible, when taken literally. But I have also come to really love and respect the man Jesus a lot more. I have also come through my own life experiences to know not only that God exists but that if I search hard enough, I will find Him.

You search. If you don't understand, keep searching. Don't let anybody take away your faith.

Re: Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?
1. Real Christians don't hate anyone. Being Homosexual is not a sin, but engaging in the lifestyle is. It took me a long time to get to why, and here's a little bit of it -

2. Sexual sin, failing to treat the body and sex as a sacred act of marriage designed towards procreation leads, eventually, to the breakdown of the family, the bedrock of society.

That's it in a nutshell. There are a lot of anti-Catholics on here, so I'm hesitant to say this, but if you really want to explore the reasons for the Christianity's opposition to the promotion of the gay lifestyle, the writings of the Popes provide very compelling and well-constructed arguments. One is Humanae Vitae, written by Pope Paul VI in the 1960s, in which he predicted that the snowball effect of approving the use of artificial birth control would lead to a culture of death. Everything he predicted has become reality in the United States. There is also John Paul II's 'Theology of the Body' which is beautiful.

Hope that helps to answer your question. I understand how it appears that this is an issue of equality. It took me a long time to come to terms with my position - I was very pro- gay marriage. (And there are actually some 'Christian' churches that endorse gay marriage - so it's not all of them, but I believe that those Churches are not correct in their views.

Thanks. I will read up on those.

If sexual sin means having sex without the goal of procreation, boy are we all in trouble.
 Quoting: Nefertiti

I would disagree with number 2

1 Corinthians 7:3-5

King James Version (KJV)

"Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband."

"The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife."

"Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32436721

Well, I see your basis for disagreement, but I'd like to point out that this is in reference to sex between a man and wife and that it was written in a time when there was no artificial birth control. I think that the Church has felt it necessary to point out and emphasize the procreative element because of the introduction of artificial birth control. If you think about it, it's way of denying God - attempting to exert control over his divine plan, no? Not trusting in him to provide what is in the plan for each of his children.

The bottom line is, as far as the Catholic Church is concerned, is that anyone who is not married is called to chastity. If you happen to be gay, you may have a little bit of a different cross to bear, but we are all called to be holy and to live our lives for God in accordance with His will - not to indulge our worldly desires. Widows, single people, divorced people, priests, nuns, and gays. The Catholic church treats them all the same.
