Christians, Why hate Homosexuals? Are you any different?

Its not that we hate its more we are feeling bad because if they do not change they shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Hear this I want everyone possible to inherit the kingdom of God but it doesn't matter what I want its what each living soul wants. If they choose to be a homosexual they want not the kingdom of God. I hope and pray that my brothers and sisters who may be homosexual come back to the light of truth and learn the way of life from Jesus Christ. We can sit here all day posting bible quotes and find something different in several chapters to justify our point. However it all comes down to admitting our sins and being forgiven.

This is for those who think sexuality is a choice. I was raised a Christian. Church, Sunday school every Sunday. I believed in my heart in God and that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. I wasn't a "sissy". I did all the stuff any typical guy would do not because I felt I had to but because I enjoyed them...sports, camping, outdoors and all that, yet I didn't do some of the cruel things that even some of my buddies from church did. I'd always tried to do the right thing because I knew that's what Jesus wanted us to do. When I went into puberty I found I was attracted to guys. I knew it was wrong, so I prayed to God, to Jesus...please change me...I don't want to be this way. I prayed and prayed, wondering what it was I had done for God to allow this to happen to me. What did I do wrong? Everyone said what a nice guy I was, but they didn't know what was going on inside. All my buddies were dating, talking about their girlfriends, kissing them, talking about "how far" they could go...even some of my Christian buddies. I knew it was wrong to do some of the things the guys were talking about even if I was 'straight'. But even kissing a girl, I couldn't even do that, because it would have been a lie on my part. They kept asking why I didn't have a girlfriend. I was good looking and had a good built and it would have been no problem for me to "fake it", but I just couldn't do it. Some of the guys were really raunchy...I didn't want to even be associated with guys that did the things they did. So I became withdrawn. And I prayed. I prayed with all my heart for God to change me. It didn't happen and I couldn't figure out why. I even asked God, more than once, "God, you said seek, ye shall find...ask and it will be given unto you...knock and the door will be open unto you. I'm seeking, I'm asking and I'm knocking. Please help me". When that didn't work I asked God to show me where I went wrong, what I had done to be punished this way. Nada. I remembered the foot print in the sands thing, about Jesus carrying me when there were only one set of prints. I prayed on that. Nada. So I decided I'd just live my life...remember the Golden Rule just because that's a decent way to be. And that's where I am now.
So maybe one of you can tell me where I went wrong? What did I do to be 'punished' or whatever you want to call it? Please don't give excuses about my not really being a Christian to begin with. I prayed every night since I was old enough to talk...said the Lord's Prayer, and confessed and asked forgiveness for all my sins...every night without fail. Some of my buddies that were so wild in high school...married with kids and now grand and even great grand kids. I have none of that...and...WHY...??? It wasn't my choice to be gay, but I am. It makes me angry when people say it's a choice. What do you know, having been born heterosexual and then condemning me to hell because I'm not? "Hate the sin, not the sinner"...are you so perfect? Just how sinless are you to judge someone else? I think you don't get it. It's "do unto others as ye would have them do unto you", not "Speak my name and point out others sins because you're so special."

Let's say someone is "born" with sexual feelings towards children, had them ever since puberty, and acted on those feelings. They'd be a pedophile, ostracized in society, and if caught, jailed. Point is, while it might be NATURAL within the human realm for some people to be attracted to same sex, that does NOT mean society should accept the acting out of it. Why the heck do you think people stayed in the "closet" in the decades previous? Why was it shunned by polite society? Because it was considered shameful and a perversion. You may argue that people had no right to feel that way but the majority did. Ask yourself why? So you see why some say embracing homosexuality is leading us down a slippery slope. The fact that it's happening is proof that people are becoming spiritually deceived. So deceived in fact that they can no longer comprehend why anyone would say there's anything wrong with homosexuality.

There are plenty of people who disagree with homosexuality but who don't abuse their rights. In other words, real Christians would not engage in hateful behaviour and/or criminal acts against anybody.

We all know that there are also plenty of "Christians" who do exactly that. Even to simply hate people without physically hurting them is a bad thing, IMO.

You're kind of scary with all those Bible quotes that you are using to "threaten" a perceived dissenter. I've seen this before. Someone asks a question and the answer is provided by quoting Scripture. Why not also explain exactly how certain verses answer that question?

I shudder when I hear the things attributed to God by some Christians. That He should continue to love us humans amazes me. He is the very meaning of the word patience. But it must hurt Him tremendously that we act the way we do, don't you think? People should try to figure out what God was doing when He commanded the deaths of whole nations since it seems out of character.

I'm reading or researching so many things at once that sometimes I take a break. On the question of why God may have insisted that Joshua obliterate enemy nations, the answer may lie with some form of gene contamination. Interesting. Now how come many Christians haven't heard of this? Still researching it.

Christians are duty bound to defend God. Unfortunately they do not realize that to do so means to study Scripture. To do so means to pray for understanding, knowledge and discernment while reading the Bible. Not to just make assumptions and paint Him out to be some crazy dictator.

I am eager to see where your going with this. I believe in an objective morality if you mean morality that is true regardless of religious beliefs or others. Such stealing is bad, killing is bad, rape is bad, etc.

How would you relate this topic to objective morality? What are your thoughts?

Just wanted to point out that "defective" is relative. God did make some people defective. For example, kids born with autism, or a severe mental retardation. The reason I put defective in quotes is because I don't like to call such people that. One of my brothers has just such a condition and sometimes I wonder if it isn't a blessing in disguise. He's a genius at computers.

My soon-to-be ex-husband is homophobic. He would rather not know that a man is gay because according to him, he simply can't shake the mental picture. He, just like you, has no issues whatsoever with lesbians.

I think it is normal to react with disgust when you think about the acts in question. There is no doubt that a heterosexual will be disgusted by homosexual acts. It was surprising to me that my gay friends are disgusted by heterosexual acts too. In a way, I don't understand because instinctively hetero sex is what should be happening. I'm talking about me personally. And yet I get it because I have absolutely no control over my internal reaction to watching two men kissing. Honestly, I can't help how I feel. So I suppose they can't help how they feel either. Knowing that got me wondering about what we are asking of them.

I'm no different from them. It's just that I bat for the regular side. Everything about this couple is really good. They are honest, hard working, kind, fair and very entertaining. It was knowing them that got me questioning my former beliefs which were anti-gay to the extent of writing the person off as totally abnormal. But I also have one (only one) girlfriend who lacks any concept of fidelity. Frankly she pisses me off big time. That I simply don't get and yet Christians will say its bad but I don't see anyone bullying people like her.

What if I told you that I have failed to find any scripture instructing people to create the Bible? God spoke to different people through his prophets and their words were written down. Jesus spent months teaching people the right thing to do and these became the Gospels. Paul wrote letters to specific people but didn't actually envisage those letters being compiled into a book. So to me, Jesus is the Living Word of God.

So let's start with 1 John 2:22:

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

I haven't denied that Jesus is the Christ. And so I'm not the Antichrist.

John 8:44

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

You do realize that Jesus was explaining to His audience who He was, right? They didn't understand that He was the Son of God and that the father He spoke of was God. Context is important. I simply don't see the context here. Help please.

Prov 9:10 is clear but again not applicable. I fear (respect, hold in awe) The Lord. I asked you before what exactly Jesus said about homosexuality. To ask is not a sign of stupidity or a sign of disrespect.

To deny God's Word is to deny Jesus Christ (1 John 2:22)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16)

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Pet. 1:21)

If Jesus did not preserve God's perfect Word for Christ's creation, then there is no God.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Prov. 30:5-6)

Therefore, when Jesus calls engaging in homosexuality a "vile" (Rom 1:26), "profane" (1 Tim. 1:10), "abomination" (Lev. 18:22, 20:13), that will preclude inheritance of the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9), and bring the wrath of God upon society (Jude 1:7), Jesus means it.

It also means Jesus convicts you as a liar (Prov. 30:6).

As a religion, it's about as gay as you can get. I bet Jesus didn't even have any private parts!
