Masking tape, plastic bags, broomsticks used to fix leak at troubled U.S. nuclear plant — “It clearly has a serious corrosion problem”

The last two times we had security and maintenance issue being hidden by hubris we got Chernobyl and Fukushima. Every nuclear power plant should absolutely be transparent and open to the public. At least considering maintenance information.

If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes.

Fukushima and the ONGOING radioactive contamination from the Japan disaster is only the tip of the iceberg.

In the last month there have been several "incidents" at nuke plants in the USA.
We are working on solution. Suggest you go to www.life-ray.org

BTW--didn't they watch MacGyver? Duct tape is so much more useful.
Joking aside, we all need to understand the LIFE on this planet is under attack.

AT THE VERY LEAST, everyone should be taking double portions of MINERALS--CHELATED potassium, magnesium and calcium.

And put antennas in your yards. We posted this two years ago. Rebar in the ground, six feet exposed above the surface, works.
You will be able to pick up our transmission.

Crap man, I am less then 20 miles from that plant. This plant has not even been hit by a tsunami and it looks like it is just one screw up away from melt down.

Clearly, it has a serious problems beyond corrosion. It makes me wonder what's going in sindie these other ones.

VT was forced to allow Yankee to start by the feds, even though Yankee didn't have a certificate of public good.

I'm starting to wonder if we are all not surrounded by a ring of death.

I remember we used the "red" ducktape to fix a 150# saltwater piping system once. But that was only used for firefighting on the ship and it was a small leak but no bullshit that ducktape held true. I know its not the same but it kind of reminded me of that.

Yikes! This is a travesty. The amount of money being made by these plants DEMANDS that they have on hand immediately available crisis staff who follow preconfigured protocol.

In fact, even if they DID NOT make enough money to support such staff, the law should DEMAND such staff necessary, or the plant will not be allowed to operate.

It's time for a rewrite, and, time to switch to free energy, wind and solar...before we kill the entire planet. Oh, wait...that's already in progress.

If this fails, and there is an accident, the government will swiftly move to ban masking tape, plastic bags, and broomsticks to insure our safety.

West Mi has Palisades nuclear plant. Its right on Lake MI.

KALAMAZOO, MI — A new report lists Palisades nuclear power plant as one of the top three plants in the country with significant safety events — or "near-misses" — in the past three years.

I hear ya. I'm halfway between this one and Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, which they built using backwards blueprints, on an active earthquake fault.

Re: Masking tape, plastic bags, broomsticks used to fix leak at troubled U.S. nuclear plant — “It clearly has a serious corrosion problem”
Considering that all continental nuclear plants are decades past their engineered life span, and only kept running through continuously granted operating extensions. It is not really that surprising that major infrastructure problems are arising. The vast majority of them should have been shut down and decommissioned decades ago.

Of course since any attempt to build new ones would have resulted in having to swim against a shitstorm of protest and regulatory red tape, no one wanted to make the attempt. So in order to keep the lights on the old ones just kept getting their expiry dates pushed up. That will only work for so long though, and eventually there will be a real incident.

Re: Masking tape, plastic bags, broomsticks used to fix leak at troubled U.S. nuclear plant — “It clearly has a serious corrosion problem”
being a welder i can tell you that it is leaking at the bolt together gaskets,
look to the weld where the angles change no leak there :)

basically welding these high pressure pipes is the best way to go, gaskets are not as good and are waaaaay cheaper and less time consuming for many parties involved.
No mention of what exactly is in these pipes?
could be heavy water or acid, either way my guess? is the gasket eroded and thats cause of the leak. afro

also i would not consider the problem super problem-matic. it could be a collant leak and small if it was semi- fixable with out the use of real tools,
However I am concerned about someone trying to "fix" the problem with tape and plastic and broom sticks? (LOL)

if the plant was organized, and has a security clearance why the stoner pothead fix? afro there should be the proper people there to adress the problem on hand or on call!
