Dude (who was actually very smart, had advanced degrees in both law and economics) gave me one of David I.... books and my mom let me read it because she thought it was about Princess Di. I was 15 or so at the time and many books were baned in our house due to religion. While not totally to my tastes, it gave me a little insight and the interest to go further. |

I guess if I had to pick an event it would be the JFK assassination. More specifically when I watched the JFK movie by Oliver Stone. I'm finally going to stop drinking for good... I'll now only drink for evil. Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days lived. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37626560 Can't explain here because Dr. Astro get me banned for speaking of it. I have heard about the radiation. I know that some astronauts that got close to it said they were seeing shooting stars, even when they closed their eyes (from the radiation/rays/whatevs), and that the apollo dudes didn't describe experiencing having that kind of experience. However, I have talked to a guy that works at JPL, and he said that the radiation levels were not so extreme that it would kill someone. I don't know if that is true or false -- the guy is a nutjob in so many other ways, I just don't know... Anyhow...no one wants to get banned... |

Looking back now...religion (truth which opposed temporal, "official" truth) was definitely the beginning of it. |

MichelleGrouchy User ID: 28140792 United States 05/01/2013 02:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The dream of space was suppressed because of fear. The _method_ of suppressing the dream was a meme that first surfaced in my area in the late 70's early 80's "Space!? We have enough problems here on Earth." It was useful to the average six-pack or grocery-shopper when they found themselves in a conversation above their education level. Also, once on the defensive, most space fanatics were hard pressed to explain the safety issues, how to effect a rescue, and how unpleasant life in zero G is. I've been looking into this since the 70's when I first became a conspiracy theorist over the shuttle redesign in committee where they divided it into two parts so it could be in Florida AND Louisiana. (the original was twice as big and all the fuel was in the wings, no external tank to shed a piece of ice and cause catastrophic loss of life later (but politicians know best don't they)) So I've been sniffing around for the hidden why of it all for many a year, and here is my theory. The dream was suppressed because of fear. In my opinion anyway. I'm still nervous about speculating openly about this. It has no context. It's so far outside the normal perspective on society that it almost seems to lack motivation (to most who hear it.) I think the reason our owners fear the dream of space, is the same fear they have of faith movements. They fear that A fundamentalist Cult goes to orbit, nukes the world, then returns to repopulate. Because this is what they would do if the roles were reversed. This is the hidden fear that, I feel, motivates the suppression of the space dream. So much that it shouldn't even be possible for someone to conceive of such a thing. AND THAT is the pop culture world we live in this day. |

It bothered mom that the finding of the Warren Commission would not be revealed for 75 years. No one from the time left alive to dispute. My aunt was adamant that the 'moon' depicted in the media was filmed in the Nevada desert. "There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls." ~ George Carlin |

You see if you are an only child, have free time and you can choose either playing your toys again or watching a really cool documentary about aliens, then guess what I choose? And after watching the documentary, I couldn't sleep the same night, I was afraid the aliens are gonna do anal probe to me or something... My imagination always goes crazy at night. I was 8, when 9/11 happened so can't say I wasn't affected by that. Last Edited by BlavkRabbit on 05/01/2013 02:44 AM |
