Fair enough. They've been promoting the wrong ideas about food for a long time, here. I've spent most of my recent years living outside of the, US and I can't disagree with you.

Better than eating hot dogs made with pig genitals and ground beef made with god knows what disgusting animal parts and mystery fillers. Do you really want your kids eating cheap mystery 'meat'? Plus it's only 1 meal, if they want meat they can get it at home.

B vitamins, especially B12, is found in the human gut. It can be obtained through the use of nutritional yeast and does not occur naturally in meat.

Agreed. The eat industry is not sustainable. It is projected that the human diet will contain very little meat by 2050. The meat that remains will, most likely, be grown in tubes, in a lab from cloned sources.

But, do we 'trust' our schoolboards to choose the appropriate meal plan.

Remember, these are the same people types that brought us : peanut free schools, chicken nuggets and fries, sloppy Joe's, and of course the aforementioned 'mystery' meat loaf.

Personally I'd like them to stay the hell away from forcing cafeteria food of any kind, vegetarian or not. Provide a small 'store ': a) to generate small bit of profit. B) teaches kids actual money transactions as opposed to just the ones in there texts, so the kids can still buy a lunch if need be.

We need to pack our own kids' lunch. How else are we to educate them on the ins and outs of deal making if no lunch swaps are made. Or even to get them to broaden their horizons on the flavour profile of exoticly unique foods.

and its obvious, gray it all down. No individualism, which can be applied in elementary to be effective in ways of teaching respect and unity but none the less, it's cruel. It should not be fully initialized, then if it is, it's over, gone, done like dinner. Theres no coming back from the mental bomb there dropping on the innocent.

Australia has bring your own food rule in school.. or "Tuckshop" if you desire....

We also have a rule here now that is 'don't share your lunch', only because the students are taught about alergies and germs... seems to be sensible after getting over the wish for a cream bun and a coke.. nom nom nom...

post note: junk food is kinda banned, but uncontrolled as kids will always sneak a sweet if they can... damn you high sugar....

I went fully vegan this year, and I am loving it. I stay away from the GMO shit to the best of my ability (meaning I never knowingly eat it, and try to purchase things specifically labeled as containing no GMO ingredients).

It isn't that hard -- but does require being conscious about what one puts into one's body.

i'm vegetarian, have been vegan, wanted to stop eating flesh when i was 5 years old (when i realized the drumstick on my plate had once been a part of a living being - the veins tipped me off) but at the time my parents would not let me - they did not understand.

i think it's great when someone makes the choice to go vegetarian, but it has to be a free-will choice. i would assume that this school still allows packed lunchs? so, perhaps that is a way for a kid who wants meat to have meat.

i think it's great that there is a vegetarian only cafeteria anywhere, but i think the people should be making the choice for themselves vs. having it forced upon them....no matter their age. one must be allowed to exercise their free-will as God intended us to do.

(that said kids are indoctrinated to eat like their parents...unless some of them start thinking for themselves)

anyway, it boils down to it should be a free-will choice...and perhaps this school implements that in a bring your own flesh lunch way? idk.

vegetarians can also tend to be picky about utensils being used for meat and their vegetarian items, so why not a veg line and a flesh line for the kids at the school? this gives them the choice.

not everyone is christian. i have been vegetarian since 1992, vegan during several of those years. my christian sister made what a consider fun of me by quoting from Romans stating that those who don't eat flesh are "weak in the spirit." i call BULLSHIT AND MANMADE interference (EDITING of the new testament....romans...omg...the name alone!)..... do you know the history of saul / paul????? then let's discuss the bullshit that is Romans and how the new testament can be suspect due to it's Roman government interference sh1t like "turn the other cheek." my family found out we have jewish heritage through my mom a few years ago....and now i strive to keep vegetarian kosher. in the old testament, God held vegetarianism as the highest ideal, but did not force people to eat thus, but it is noted in some verses. also, just look at the garden of eden.

so, please do not proselytize the new testament which is a highly suspect edited document for political control and not in just my opinion. thanks.

what does the torah / old testament say? the new testament has been edited for roman political control, imho...and others have said the same. jesus said he came to FULFILL the law (613 commandments) ... saul / paul breaks down adherence to the law in the books of ROMANS! gee...wonder at the name?!?! saul / paul was a civil servant....very assimilated to roman culture and wanted his fellow hebrews to FALL IN LINE. he went against the wishes of jesus' own brother james in doing what he did with the new testament.

vegetarianism is the ideal in God's eyes. if anyone wants to strive towards perfection in God's eyes they would be adopting a vegetarian diet. however, God does not judge against those who eat flesh....he does however set guidelines for the hebrews to follow (part of those 613 commandments).

if you aren't of hebrew descent, i don't think God judges you upon what you eat, though maybe if you call yourself christian (since that is kinda a jewish sect being led by a jewish rabbi and all).

but, really who knows how God judges? only God.
