Trees budding late due to winter-like spring?
I'm just curious to see what you all have noticed around the country. I live in Denver, Colorado and we just had another decent snowstorm yesterday (6-16"!). When there's been late-spring snowfall in the past (mid/late-April), the trees had already sprouted buds. Since the trees were sprouting more surface area, a lot of snow would be stuck to tree branches, add a lot of weight, and break tons of limbs. Because of that past spring, I'm more aware of budding and late snowstorms.

Anyway, I've noticed that the majority of trees are not sprouting buds yet. I don't think it's because of a long cold spell because we had 80-degree weather on Sunday and a few very nice spring days. Are you seeing the same thing? Does it seem like trees aren't budding? All of the trees here look like they're dead. I've only noticed one out of all of them that have a few buds sprouting.

Re: Trees budding late due to winter-like spring?
Florida here. We have had late blooming also despite moderate weather. 2 peach trees that are supposed to have fruit in may /June have just now sprouted. Same with plums. 2 peach trees seem to be o. Schedule tho. Several varities of flowering trees are late. I'm not sure what is going on but the plants seem confused. I had several fruit trees bloom in the fall. Not full on bloom but some flowering. I have noticed this for the last few years. How long have this been occurring in your area?
