It was not until 2010 that anyone thought to open the heavy steel hatch, climb down the ladder and explore the 8-foot-by-10-foot chamber that the home's previous owner had built to protect his family from a nuclear attack. Floating in five feet of water that had seemed into the bunker were sealed U.S. Army boxed packed with all of the supplies a family would need to survive two weeks underground. 'We assumed it was just this empty space,' homeowner Carol Hollar-Zwick told the Appleton Post-Crescent. The boxes, old military ammunition crates, contained markings that suggested there might be explosives inside, so the family called the local branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Agents opened the crates to find... Hawaiian Punch. More at [ link to www.dailymail.co.uk] Thought this was pretty neat! Pics at link... Last Edited by Laura Bow on 05/03/2013 08:55 AM |

The virtue of courage is a prerequisite for the practice of all other virtues, because otherwise one is virtuous only when virtue has no cost. There are times when something needs to be done, and yet we know that if we step up and do this needful thing, we will pay a heavy personal price. -C.S. Lewis |

That's the first thing I'd do. |

Call the BATF? What Morons... Put yourself in the newspapers? The last thing you ever want to do is reveal your secret bunker, and your stash. The other aspect of this, is what is with all of the candy? Sit around in a bunker and eat candy for a couple of weeks? That was then, this is now...Anyone preparing for a disaster, or a meltdown these days is going to be tagged a Kook. |

GLPers existed in the 60s? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30891577 Before the Internet, we had BBS. Before that Magazines and Newsletters. Before that Seminars and books. Yes, there were GLP'ers in 999 AD. They went underground. We all breathe the same air. .-.. --- ...- . / .- .-.. .-.. |
